The Big Hurt

The Big Hurt

Postby Solo07 » Wed Jul 25, 2007 12:19 pm

Anybody out there had luck (or just experience) w/ Frank Thomas?

+s seem like a great bat vs. RHP or LHP - good power, good OBP.

-s seem like no position, slow, and a 2 inj.

Is Troy Glaus basically the same card for $2M less?

BTW, my home park is AT&T, but there are a lot of hitters parks in the league (Chase, US Cellular, Coors, etc.).

Thanks,
Ramon

If you're gonna see more LH's, go with Glaus.

I've only used The Big Hurt once. It was a theme league where he hit .248 with 31 HR's and 69 RBI's. .370 OB and .558 SLG in 398 plate appearances.

Thomas is a nice choice in a hitters park. I have had him twice so far...

1) Camden Yards
536 AB
97 RS
55 HRs
120 RBI's
282 BA
401 OBP
625 Slugging

2) US Cell (as a platoon vs RHP only in a 100 mill league that ends this week)
413 ABs
61 RS
38 HRs
79 RBIs
245 BA
330 OBP
545 Slugging

I think you can expect a somewhat low BA, with lots of HRs, RBIs and decent OBP and slugging...not bad for 5.33 Mill.

My .02 :)

I usually go with Carlos Lee, if you need a DH. Slightly less than Thomas (5.15 v 5.33), but can hit both righties and lefties, with a high BA and steal some bases as well.

Full time DH in Camden:

546 108 150 17 0 [b:6268d02e57]58 130[/b:6268d02e57] 100 106 0 0 0 .275 .388 .625

was much much better vs RHP, 100 mil league.
