Ballpark HR on the hitters and as few as possible on the Pitchers is my concept for Cellular Have not played there in 07 but 06 was the way to go 8)

i found out the hard way....

pay 2-4 million for your starters

spend your pitching money on a lights out closer... and a Good but not great set up. have 6 rp available total.

then spend the balance on guys who can hit em out....

2b utley
durham types..... not sure i'd use orlando here.

teahan good for the cell at least vs rhp....

b harris available for bu and platooning vs the hard lefties?

my personal opionion is that rios is more of a pitchers park guy....

i like uribe in the cell for my ss.... miggie is ok but not all that much of a value...

giambi is not an everyday firstbaseman.... is this a dh league?

a few random thoughts for your perusal.

I haven't had a ton of luck with hitting parks in 07, I'll just show you my 1 cell team:

For your team, if you could replace bush with a * SP without so many BP Hr's that pitching staff should be good enough. Or grab Morris who has done suprisingly well for me despite the BP Hr's. I agree you need a good closer though, and there are plenty usually left around. Heilman is there too, a good setup guy

As for hitting, you have a bunch of guys with Max BP Hr's, but no real hits. If you have a bunch of hitters parks in your league, that's good enough to get by, but if there's a bunch of pitchers parks you're in trouble on the road.

This team in the Cell did ok...missed the playoffs though :x

Note I had no lights out closer as akindian suggests...that probably would have been the difference for this team. Instead I had Wickman for most of the season (he kept blowing saves), until I switched to the Jenks/Valverde combo. Wish I had someone like Nathan, Wagner, Ryan, Rivera, Hoffman....even Otsuka.

My .02

IMO Zambrano is not worth the $$ here. You want to tie your $$ up in hitting and RP, not SP. I would downgrade to either Johnson, Willis, Cruz, Cook, maybe even escobar. You of course would have to go with a 5 man rotation at that point, unless you go with Willis, who i have found to be very effective here.

Love Nathan of course, and Bauer is probably servicable. Would rather see Howry from your FA pool. Kuo is also available, and would make a nice addition to the Nathan/Howry duo.

A.Jones is made for this park, but is a bit pricey. I usually like Tori Hunter here for less $$, and am currently trying a Edmonds/Murphy platoon, but Andruw certainly works here.

Giambi is not my favorite, but is OK. I really don't see anyone on your FA that would be a better choice at this point.

RF (although Ross is a nice cheapo when seeing alot of LHP) and C is very weak, which you cannot really afford in the Cell. I would try and strengthen one or the other, or maybe both if you can somehow. Ordonez is nice here for the $$, and I like a Johjima/Shoppach platoon at C.

Like Akindian said, i like low priced SP's with little or no BPHRs, a GREAT closer and solid (but not necessarily spectacular) setup guy, and lots of guys who can hit it out of the park! Forget about OBP here, just look for POWER!!!

Good luck!

Many thanks...

I pulled the trigger on the big guy and reinvested in RF and RP.

C Lieberthal
1B A.Gonzalez
2B Iguchi
3B Teahan
SS Tejada
LF Bay
CR A.Jones
RF Bradley

I'm a little squeemish starting off the season with 2 lefty SPs...I'll have to think that through...my plan is to place Nathan down as the set-up guy and leave the closer up to HAL thereby maximizing my investment in Nathan. Any thoughts here?

Catcher: Lieberthal should do the trick.

Thanks again,

if this were my band o misfits i'd

drop iguchi for durham

try to find room for keppinger by dropping l gonzalez

then i'd dump giambi for ordonez to patrol right field.

then a gonzlez for norton

then bradley for bernie williams/hinske platoon at dh.....

you will need to drop lane as well but maybe you just use him as your of sub.
