Once you have your 25 players that you want to draft put them in order by when you think they will be drafted by someone else or how popular you think they are with other owners. After that make some adjustments (up or down) as to how important each player is to your team's success.
As far as where to put stud pitchers, HR hitters, defensive players......That all depends on what kind of team you are building.

I always try and draft the best guys available at Key positions first (keeping in mind the cap restraints of course) . CF, SS, 2B are the most important, and in 07, SS is the hardest to fill. You might think Agon is a waste as your #1 pick, but if vizquel is gone, he might be your smartest #1 pick....
But I never really go in with what type of team i want to build, because if you just draft with the intention of getting the best available players, after about 10 rounds your strengths will begin to show, and you can start worrying about where you want to play at that point.

The 5 man rotation option: You can prioritize crucial position players at the top of your list and draft your SP's lower and still have a good shot at getting at least 3 of the SP's because they don't make as many draft lists.

I think mtarbell is giving us live draft tips rather than AD tips.
I also disagree that SS is the hardest position to fill in 2007. I think LF is the hardest unless you are satisfied with a 4 fielder.

LOL!! Yup sure was!
That is quite a different story....I ALWAYS determine what park i am playing in, and then determine the best players for that park (this is not as important in 07, since most of the parks are pretty generic, but there is still the CELL!). Same strategy sort of, strong D up the middle, etc, etc...Agree with LM, guys you KNOW are drafted early you put first...
I still think SS is the toughest...I can live with a 4 LF with a - arm and Great Offense (MANNY comes to mind! ), but i cannot live with a 3 rated SS....none in this years deck like Young last year, where you could somewhat overlook the D for the great O you got...

MTarbell has finally gone off the deep end:

Agon is not a first pick in any type of league, in any type of park or in any type of anything.

What about this drafting exercise (strategy)?
Draft a few real high value players … then fill out the rest with everyone else at .50M.
See what you get of the high value guys …. And then build the rest of your team during the FA period.
Thoughts on this? I’ve been toying with the idea.

Why would you want to give every other team in the league their choice of players first?
