all input appreciated. tried to get some good obp w/ some pop while still keeping my def at 2's all around except in lf where i went w/ figgins w/ a 3 and pujols @ 1st w/ a 1. I have some pretty good speed on the team in figgins, damon, roberts and cabrera so hoping that will score me some extra runs. I am pretty unfamiliar w/ the bargain sp in this set so my sp may be a little poor, but i tried to sure up my bullpen w/ some strong r2 pitchers and a great closer in saito. so let me have it guys, how does this team look? Question Laughing

I apoligize for posting in the main forum, it seems that the strategy forum does not get to much traffic daily.

After a quick glance:

1 - downgrade your bullpen/upgrade your starting pitching. You've spending 17M for 2-3 IP a game in the pen and 11M for 6-7 IP a game for the starters. Should at least be the other way around.

2- don't mix your starters. Find 4 - *SP or 5 SP. Also, pick-up SP with fewer ballpark HR and no clean HR on their cards.

3 - drop Helton as your DH. You're spending money for his defense that won't be used. Pick-up a hitter who's at least a 4 defensively. That will give you more offense for the buck.

Re-post and we'll look at it again.

I have had better luck w/ cheaper sp and a more solid relief core in the past. I looked at my options at downgrading my pen and upgrading the starting lineup & It just wouldnt work, not enough quality sp left. I could downgrade garcia to a cheapo sp. as far as helton I liked his obp, but if i get the cheapo sp i could upgrade helton to a berkman/ mauer hitter

If you're happy with your 4 *SP, drop Burnett, pick-up .50M SP to free up cash.

Drop Sanchez to <1M RP. Saito and Donnelly do the same job.

Upgrade your offense with the cash savings.

I'm using Helton at 1B because of his OBP at Dolphins, but his D for you is wasted with Pujols at 1st.

I'm also platooning Figgins/Clark at Dolphins hitting them 9th.

The #HR on your pitchers cards will be HR 55% of the time at Yankee Stadium.

What other parks are in your divison?

imho, Burnett needs to go as he's not a *SP and Beckett needs to go, too many ballpark HR for your park, another Yankee and a US Cell in your division. US Cell's 19/19 ballpark HR, 95% HR.

Drop one to a .50M SP or SP/RP(mop-up), add another better *SP with lower ballpark HR.

My 1st team right now is at Dolphins where I also have Roberts at 2B.

My 2nd team is at US Cell, homer haven, with 3 of them in that league.

After another quick look before bedtime, work in the morning:

I like setting up my teams with similar players, ones that stay healthy.

This team looks better to me, with a potential top 6 of:

1 Kendall C
2 Young RF
3 Pujols 1B
4 Hafner DH
5 Rodriguez 3B
6 Damon CF

vs lefties or righties.

Will take a look after work tomorrow(4PST) and will post links to my 2 teams I've mentioned previously.

You simply must improve your SP. Even with a fairly strong pen, you will have an era in the upper 5's or maybe even 6's with this staff. The idea of relief is to protect leads, or to keep you close so you can catch up with them. But you must assume that these SP's will get taken out pretty early (meaning you are behind of course), and that will mean that your lesser$$ RP's like Donnelly and Villone will be seeing tons of innings, which is not what you want at all. You need some SP's that can consistently go 5-6 innngs so you can get to your duo of Zumaya/Saito.

As much as you might like hafner and pujols, one of them needs to go to make room for some pitching. There are some good SP's left on your FA...Harden, Sabbathia, Johnson just to name a few. But to have bonderman and pettite as the anchor of your staff is just asking for trouble. They would be OK as a 4&5 starter, but not as your 1-2.

I would also respectfully disagree with emm...I do not really have a problem with mixing *SP's and non * SP's....In this set the value's seem to be more with the non *SP's, but one or two *SP's in your 5 man rotation is not a problem. I just try and get the best SP for the $$ that I can, and mix and match them regardless of their * rating.

I prefer 4 *SP to 5 SP.

I've always done better with less cost this way. Also, my friend HAL has a nasty habit of rolling triple 6's against me while the opposing DH is up.

My oldest current 2007 team had 3 pitcher injuries the first 36 games, 2 starters and 1 reliever, then another reliever half-way throught the season for 15 games.

My newest 2007 team started similarly, with a *SP injury in the 1st inning of game 2, yes 2.

HAL has it in for us superior GM/MGR's
