This is not a new product launch. It is only a publicity event geared to drawing more attention to SOM from the TSN audience as a whole.

Sykes, Are you sure? In the Suggestions forum a while back Bernie had this to say when asked about new products coming out.

This quote along with what has been said about 1986 makes me think that 1986 is the new single-season game that Bernie is talking about. Why would they go to all the trouble of creating a 1986 game for only one season of celebs and media without releasing it to us?

Sykes is correct. The publicly-playable 1986 game will not be available until an undetermined date in the (somewhat near) future.

A bummer, and a mistake. For the first time in about 5 years, I've got no active teams, and I've gotta watch "celebrities" play the '86 season? Ugh.

But I'm encouraged to hear that it will become available . . . I had originally read it as exclusively promotional. Are you able to give us any insights on when that might happen, Bernie, beyond "an undetermined date in the (somewhat near) future"? I think I know you can't, or you would have already, but I gotta ask . . .

Well it takes 2 months to complete a season so it will probably be at least 2 months AFTER the promotional league starts.

January maybe?

The '69 season started in September while the '70's game began in December...FWIW.
