What's with the blown saves

I now have 9 blown saves out of 16 changes. Wickman is my closer and he has only had 3 of those save chances.

Manager Settings are set to:

Closer: Maimize

Relief usage maximize

Wickman is set as my closer. Benoit is my set-up man.

Wickman is set to come in no earlier than 8th inning and max 1 to 2 innings.

Benoit is set to avoiid RHB, Slow hook, avoid using during blowouts and before 7th inning and max 1 to 2 innings and IBB less.

My other relievers are set to Avoid XHB, quick hook avoid use before 6th inning and max 1 to 2 innings.

Any thoughts on how I can get more save opportunities to Wickman?

Steve, set 2 of your cheapies (Kline and You Choose) to avoid before [b:021afe1168]8th[/b:021afe1168]. If you have them "avoid before 6th" they will come jogging out of the pen in the 7th and say to HAL, "Give me the pill" and HAL will gladly oblige. The other team blows the game open and Wickman gets another night off.

Also, your pen is pretty shallow for a hitting park so I would set Closer usage to Regular instead of Maximize. On Maximize, Wickman will only take the mound in a save situation.

Just my opinion, but I think by limiting your two best RP (max 1-2 innings) you end up having them pulled and your cheaper RP are in there at the end of the game.

I would uncheck the max 1-2 innings and make sure they are avoid blowout. That way they are available when you need them to win. Benoit should be getting the most of your relief innings.

I noticed that Batista has been used in relief a few times. Game 34 he pitched in relief and then started in game 35. He's going to be fatigued when he does. I'm guessing he's coming in because you have limited the innings of all your RP.

In a hitters park I wouldn't limit the innings of any of my RP except if I have an extreme hard right or hard left.
