Does Hal play favorites with Strat Cards?

Does Hal play favorites with SOM cards or is it really all just random luck?I would rank Anibel Sanchez as the third best SP in the set.And yet even though I have used him in five different leagues ;he never does well! His E.R.A is always over 5.00.I understand that factors like team defense, ballparks, and luck play a huge role, but come on!Also certain players that I will not name(because I need all the advantages I can get with my pea brain)perform much better than their cards.I understand the role of random chance, but once again these players always kick butt.Does anyone have any thoughts other than random chance?Does the computer like some players better than others? Also how do they come up with the pricing? There are some players that ARE CLEARLY BARGAINS!!!!AND THE MORE YOU PLAY THE MORE YOU FIND!!!!!!!THANKS FOR ANY REPLIES,
Richard

Richard,

SOM is truly a dice game so there are random variations.

However, there are players that fit certain ballparks better than others. This is where the value is found and you can accomplish more with these so call "bargain" players if you put them in the right situation.

Ballparks aside

Some players are a bargain regardless of the ballpark. And some players have "RANDOM" success quite frequently.More frequently than the mathematical odds should allow for.

I thought Jamie Moyer was one of those players. The first league I was in he went 17-10. 2nd league, 19-10. So I had to try him. 17-9. Then I found him on 10 teams in the Player's Championship and his average record was 9-13 (5.25, 1.47). He's a bargain if he gets run support. These numbers back up what JPav showed in the The Secret Formula 2007 thread. With pitchers, on average, you get what you pay for.

Here's Sanchez's average numbers from 10 leagues (5 of my Auto's and 5 from the Player's Championship):

14-10; 3.72 (with a high of 4.57); 1.27

It sounds like HAL is giving you some rolls for your consistent bargain players at the expense of Sanchez.
