Player Fatigue?

Hi Guys, new player here. I'm kinda learning "on the fly" and really enjoy the game. But there are still a few things I don't quite get.

One is why my Chase Utley can't seem to break the Mendoza line...but that's another thread.

My question is regarding fatigue. Is it even a factor at all in this game? If not, why? It really should be.

I see many of the top teams cut down to 24 or 25 players to better concentrate their payroll to bigger players, and then promptly toss out their relievers pretty much every game. That isn't very realistic, is it?

We have teams where relievers have pitched over 80 innings in about 93 games so far.

Also, when you have a guy who only played 120 AB's in the real year, can he really be expected to go for 600 in SOM?

Maybe there is a fatigue factor somewhere but I can't find it. Am I looking in the wrong spot?

There is no fatigue for hitters at all. In fact only RP have fatigue issues. If a RP pitches in 3 straight games he begins that 3rd game with the possibility of getting fatigued right away instead of after 1 or 2 innings (whatever his rating). Other than that there are no fatigue related restrictions.

Yes a player that only had 100 real life ABs can start for you and get 600 or more ABs. That has been a part of SOM from the beginning so this online game is no different. Each player is given a salary equal to how productive his card is. Any player can be selected to start for you all year long and get as many ABs as you can get out of him.

Players with less than 600 PA (AB + walks) can become injured for up to 15 games at a time however.

Welcome to TSN/SOM. 8-)

The beauty of Start is that it allows for both reality and "what if"...in the same season. If you look over say 5 season of 07 Strat... Berkman/Tejada/Carpenter will almost always end up with #'s very close to his true season. Then you can have guy like Thames/C.Ross/A. Sanchez who can play 5 full "what if" seasons and better his overall #'s very easily.
If you would prefer a true mirror of a regular season you can do so. You would need the agreed upon understanding of all owners in the league to abide by certain rules relating to durations,IP's, PA's etc. The end results are eeriely close to MLB results.

Enjoy!

Thanks for your responses guys. I appreciate you taking the time very much.

Is there a place on the player card, or elsewhere that shows the fatigue situation of the relief pitcher? Or is that something we just need to figure out.

As I said before, I really do enjoy the game and can't wait until the next morning to see the box scores.

Now, can you do something to get Utley above .200!?

A must for any online Strat player. Call it Strat101 lead by Professor Marcus Wilby( a real professor...kinda). This is THE primer for the game.
