Can anyone tell me anything about the SOM basketball game? I've never played it, but have interest in the 72-73 ABA & NBA. I've played one computer season of the NFL game, and thought it was lukewarm compared to baseball.
OK, also....I haven't actually owned the baseball game for 5 or 6 years. Is the online opponent a good feature? Do leagues still exist like they used to...I mean before TSN/SOM?

On each play, you might have the option of passing it to a given player, or the ball might end up in someone's hands and you choose the type of shot. If you enjoy the sport, you'll find it interesting. The computer version naturally keeps track of the stats, which is the main drawback of the board game, so I have no major complaints at all about it.[quote:3d18218fef]OK, also....I haven't actually owned the baseball game for 5 or 6 years. Check the SOM Fan Forum.

Thanks for taking time!

Thanks Dean, for taking a minute to help me out on a couple questions.
I think I'll try the Basketball game.
On baseball, isn't there a feature where you can play let's say me against you real time online, and we actually play the game...insert pinch hitters...pull a starting pitcher, etc. I know at one time, that was a feature of the game. My question is...Is that still a feature, and if so...Is it a good thing?
Thanks!

Ok, for anyone who might not be totally ignoring my posts yet....Anyone???
I found my latest version of SOM CDRombb. It's Version 7. What's more, I still have the key disk, so I installed it.
There it was....It was called NET PLAY. As I remember, you went to Yahoo Games, and found a pool of avid SOM fans just waiting to challenge you to a game of SOM Baseball played over the Net. From there I'm lost. I never got a chance to actually play a game against anyone.
So now.....does that jog anyone's memory??? Can anyone tell me if it's still available...I didn't find SOM anywhere in Yahoo games this morning....Or has everyone just moved right by my post?
Thanks!! ???

Not ignoring you. I guess people just do not know anything about the online game. I have not played it although I do own the latest release. I will check it out next week and see if the option is still there to challenge an opponent online.

Thanks!
I'd be interested to know if it's still there on the new version 13. I doubt it would work with someone like me, still in the dark ages of Version 7! If anyone still has it, I'd like to link up and play, if still possible!

Please let me know how quickly you will be demanding answers, because if I can't manage to get back to you in that amount of time, in the future, I just won't bother.

Yes, the baseball game still has Netplay (did you really think they would have removed it?) The basketball game has Netplay too, BTW. It works well, other than the fact that it isn't a "native" Windows application, and so if let's say you want to remove your pitcher, instead of just dragging the new pitcher into the lineup as you would expect, you have to select the new pitcher and hit ALT-P. There are other "key combinations" like that that do various things. But you get used to them quickly, and the actual playing of the game is fine; lag/disconnection are rare, in my experience. You would not be able to Netplay with anyone who has any version other than v7; the two players have to have the same version of the game. I have never heard of this Yahoo Games thing and don't remember it at all. There is no centralized place to find opponents; you will have to find them yourself. The aforementioned SOM Fan Forum would be the best way to find a league to join, or a "pickup game," although quite honestly I don't think there is all that much demand for the latter.

EXCUSE ME!!

I didn't know I was asking a question of ONLY YOU out of the universe of Strat fans! It was a general question.
I'll not bother the Strat Nation with my trivial questions in the future!
Thank you, just the same for honoring me with your response. Is there a charge???

Also...Just to avoid any further confusion of identity....I am not Jesus Christ.
He's the one associated with the best selling book, not me. Maybe you've heard of it?
