Lineup Help Please!

Postby bleacher_creature » Sun Nov 13, 2005 11:15 am

I realize this team lacks HRs. After going 5-10 to start, I dumped JD Drew for Overbay, Miceli (my division is very right handed in bats), and A. Nunez for late LF defense. I had Klesko playing 1B, and lost a games die to unearned runs he caused.

I am 2nd in team ERA, but last in OBP, SLG, and RUNS. All important runs.

This team is simply not getting on the way they should or I hope will? I don't think some house cleaning is the answer BTW. Do I just hang tough and wait for the bats to come around? Did I create the most inept offense in the history of TSN/SOM?

For the love of God help me. I just lost two out of three with these scores:

5-3 W
3-1 L
3-1 L

I moved Overbay from 4 to 3, with the thought that my one or two will get on, and he will double them in. Unless he doesn't. :D

vs rhp

clark
carroll
overbay
alou
estrada
kotsay
klesko
vizquel
cabrera

moises is your only hr threat so you need to get him in the hr position.

estrada positive clutch.

i'd even think about trading viz and klesko as vis hits the ball at least and has some clutch.

Thanks. These ideas are helpful. I'm frustrated and losing my perspective.

I've overestimated some of the players, and underestimated others (such as Kotsay).

Vizquel and his .377 OBP vs RHPs makes sense in the two hole to me (plus good H&R rating), but otherwise I think this is the lineup vs RHPs.

Going 5-10 to start really isn't the time to panic. Dropping Drew, with his high salary, could really come back to haunt you. So could that expensive catching platoon. Yikes.

Partially due to the advice here, I just swept a series 6-3, 4-2, 9-8 (15 inn).

Dropping Drew was to make up for another mistake, which was thinking I could get away with Klesko at 1B (3e21). He had 3 errors in the first 12 games.

I don't know about the expensive catching platoon. We'll see. Both Estrada and Inge have good OB/TB from their strong side of the plate.

Now I'm facing Johnson/C. Zambrano/Pedro in the same series. Talk about a test.
