Coming soon - 1986, 2007, ATG III v2, Live Drafts

Update!

[b:e960dba904]1986 season[/b:e960dba904][/size:e960dba904]

The next game we will be launching will be in [b:e960dba904]2 weeks[/b:e960dba904] - on Wednesday, February 27 - and it will be the 1986 season card set. There are quite a few significant things that go along with this:

- It will be absolutely FREE TO PLAY for a limited time. The full 162-game season, for nothing.

- Not only will it be free, it will feature our Flash-based [b:e960dba904]Live Draft[/b:e960dba904] application, a first for Strat-O-Matic Baseball Online.

- Also for the first time, we'll be launching this new card set (1986) within the framework of the ATG III site, as a big step towards consolidating all future card sets into one centralized Strat-O-Matic Online site. The biggest advantage for us is that we don't have to build a new site every time we want to debut a new card set, so we can launch them much more quickly, and the biggest advantage for you is that when you buy a "Strat-O-Matic team", you can play any of the card sets housed within the central site.

- We'll be debuting [b:e960dba904]Mock Drafts[/b:e960dba904] for the '86 set next Wednesday, February 20. Mock Drafts are a neat feature of ours whereby we keep a number of demo live drafts running over and over again, 24 hours a day, and let you jump into and out of them at your convenience, to whet your appetite, and so you can get familiar with the app before the day your real league starts its actual draft.

- Both the free offer of the '86 game and the Live Draft feature are two big ways we will be attempting to bring more new blood into the community, which is a plus for everybody involved. Take it easy on all the newbies!!

[b:e960dba904]2008 game (2007 season cards)[/b:e960dba904][/size:e960dba904]

The 2007 card set will debut very soon after 1986 - perhaps a few weeks - at the regular price of $24.95. This will also feature the Live Draft at no extra cost, and will also be introduced into the new centralized Strat-O-Matic site.

[b:e960dba904]ATG III version 2[/b:e960dba904][/size:e960dba904]

Ditto for the re-priced ATG III set, which we are dubbing "ATG III v2". For those of you who are not aware, per the community's suggestion we are updating the salaries of all ATG III players to reflect their relative demand/usage, as a relatively low-cost way to bide our time and stoke the fires until the debut of ATG IV, whose ETA is still unknown. We are also currently looking into pulling in cards that are in play in our other games and making them available in ATG III v2 as well. This will be making its debut at the same time the new 2007 cards do, if not before.

Plus, we will make the Live Draft available for all future ATG leagues at no extra cost.

Thanks everyone!
Bernie

Fantastic new Bernie, especailly the live draft application, now if we could get a mechanism for keeper leagues ooooh boy

Nothing against '86 and ATG, but anything that can be done to speed up the launch of 2008 would be greatly appreciated. We've got keeper leagues chomping at the bit to get rolling.

This all sounds great Bernie. Thanks!

On the lunching of the 2008 game, did you mean a few days after the 1986 is introduced or do you mean a few weeks after the 1986 season is introduced?

Bernie,

Will a new spreadsheet with the new ATG III salaries be made available?

Needless to say, some "half-empty" people will ask why all of the games don't become free. Personally, I think this is an awesome move. I think the challenge to us committed die-hards is to [b:6d473b9358]recruit some friends to try the free game[/b:6d473b9358]. If they get hooked, that's more people for our community. On the other hand, if they play the free game and then move on, no harm done to us.[u:6d473b9358][/color:6d473b9358][/u:6d473b9358]

the flash draft

Postby nymets99 » Wed Feb 13, 2008 10:03 am

Do we have to take part in the flash draft in order to play the 1986 game for free? if so are there going to be multple leagues organized to get more people involved?

"A few weeks???"

Postby Play By The Rules » Wed Feb 13, 2008 1:53 pm

Hopefully that is a misprint. The new card set has always been released some time in March. If you are talking about a few weeks after February 27, well, needless to say, I will be very disappointed. Especially after all the talk from Bernie about wanting to have it released earlier than in previous years.

It will really be a shame if all of these other new products and the "upgrade" of ATGIII causes the 2008 game to be neglected.
