Mirabelli

Can anybody give a full season's worth of numbers on Mirabelli? Both offensive and defensive. Or if anyone knows the board game well enough to tell me how often the passball roll comes up during a season that would be great as well.

I've got a team early in the season with Mirabelli at catcher. So far he's given me little offensively and had a hand in giving my opponents 38 extra bases (26 for 35 on SB attempts, 12 passed balls) through 30 games. I realize the SBs are partially my pitchers' responsibilities, but the +2 arm is a factor.

I'd be very interested in seeing his numbers against left-handed pitching as he's currently the cleanup hitter against lefties on my team, and the primary reason he's on the team is that most of my other big hitters are 1r's(A.Ramirez, M.Cabrera) to 7r(Hafner). I thought I needed some protection against lefties. So far choosing Mirabelli over Mench looks like a mistake.

The team was last in passed balls (54, league average 10) but first in catching opponents on stealing 48 (30, for a good opponent SB .680).

Thanks for the info. Doesn't make sticking with him through the whole season look promising. Though I'm sure he'd do better in Wrigley than Shea, I'm not sure it's enough to justify dealing with the passed balls (now that I've properly checked my starter's hold ratings his arm probably isn't hurting me too much: not much he can do when my starters let guys take a lead halfway down to second).

I think I'm gonna look at either a castillo/torrealba or a buck/torrealba platoon. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate the input.

I'd try holding on to Mirabelli and just use a good defensive catcher is a late inning def. Replacement and check Mirabelli's sub for def rep with lead.

Check how many of those passed balls are actually coming back and turning into runs against you...you maybe be looking at passed balls that don't really come back to haunt you and by usng a def replacement you minimize the possibility of it happening when it can really hurt you.

I am having my first run with Mirabelli, he sure lets 'em pass by him and it already cost me a game, but...he's contributed to more wins than losses and for that I think I will ride him for the entire season, I am quite intrigued by his card.

I have Cash to back him up in late innings...we'll see how it goes.
