My older brother intro'd me to SOM in 1972, using the 1971 season cards. I played regularly for about 15 years, but haven't played since 1987. I signed up for the free trial....and wow I think I'm hooked again.

Are you looking to total lifetime, or continuous time in your survey?

My brother and I played the board game starting in 1982 when I was 16. We played for a couple years, then I went in the military and life moved on. I did not play again until 2005-- the TSN online version.
I have not played the board game since the mid 80's. Either way, it is a great game.

A max of 6-10 years? Are you kidding?? That's still a rookie!!!
This topic has come up several times in the past on these threads (and on the old boards that no longer exist).
As far as I know, I'm still the only one here who first played the Strat board game in 1963, with the 1962 cards. I think that was the year the game first came out. I ordered my first game, with 8 teams on the big, thick yellowish player cards, from an ad in the back of Boy's Life, the Boy Scout magazine.
Fortunately, I'm still not the oldest person playing here...unless a couple of others have croaked by now! 8-)

I strarted playing the board game in a neighbors garage when I was about 10. 35 years ago. I bought my first game around then but it burned up in a house fire. I bought my 1977 series that I still have today along with the Hall of Fame teams. I also had the 1972 football game. Dolphins 17-0. I tried many times to beat them with every team and not once did they lose.

Been playing the board game since 1966.
Before the online game, we had a group that played entire seasons.
herculean to say the least......but great fun

I had a deprived childhood, never having played the board game. My SOM experience is strictly from the online game. My youth was spent playing electric football (yeah, I'm ancient), though I played some baseball game (Mattel maybe) that consisted of cards with only rolls available of 2 through 12, not exactly statistically accurate.

When I was in grad school 1983-1987 we had a strato club among a group of guys at the University of Kansas. We plyaed by mail for years afterwards until about 1994. Damn I miss the thrill of the face to face game.

I started playing in 1971 with my two older brothers. The 1970 season was our first game. My wife reminds me that she was born 2 years later in '73...just to give me some perspective of how old I really was.
I grew up in southern Wisconsin and got to watch WGN and Jack Brickhouse call the games at Wrigley. My '70 Cubs Strato team was like gold to me at 8 years old.
Then the '70 Cubs show up on SOM online about 35 years later. What a great country!! :D
