Haven't tried the 80's, really want to though.
Tried ATGII once, had a blast, player pool is huge, teams are nasty-filthy-good, players know their games quite well, stadiums are quite diverse. Had AAA stealers, and all 1 defensive team, a pitching staff that was so good Nolan Ryan was the unwanted fifth starter I let go before the season...and still my team barely matched some of the others.
Lot's of fun, I personally love the no-DH...and that's what you get there. No DH, no enforced closer rule, lots of speed, pop, avg, Ks...the whole enchilada.
However, I still want to play the 80s...that mystery card stuff keeps calling for me.

Both have their advocates. The big difference with the 80s is the mystery card; if that sounds appealing, you should definitely give it a try. ATG has a larger pool of owners, and thus more variety in the types of leagues you might try (DH/no DH, waivers/frenzy, diff. salary caps.)
