Curse of the secondbasemen (an anecdote)

In a 1986 series, I lose Ryne Sandberg to injury in his second at-bat. Since he has over 600 plate appearances, he ends up injured for only two more games. No big deal, right? Vance Law enters the game as an adequate back-up only to be injured himself in the 8th inning (for six games). So probability has bitten me in the backside, LOL. I have never carried more than one back-up for someone like Sandberg, so HAL inserts the unrated Mariano Duncan at secondbase who proceeds to get injured during the course of game three setting up the scenario where HAL recruits John Shelby as his replacement (based upon his arm, I suppose). The funniest part of this story is that I was not hurt defensively by this circus act. There was one 2B-X result, but Duncan somehow managed to shag the ball.
