Post-draft ballpark changes rescinded

Okay, we'll go back to the way it was. It's easy enough to change and I don't want any of you to be upset. Keep in mind, though, that in both yea-or-nay polls that Play by the Rules started, the results were close to even, which means that either 1) the idea wasn't such an awful one, or 2) these polls aren't very useful. Take your pick!

Still, if I can do something quick to make people happy (or less unhappy), I'll do it. [b:5b3050cb30]All preseason auto-draft leagues will continue to be able to change their ballparks until this Friday, 3/7 at 11:59pm ET, after which no other auto-draft leagues may do so after the draft.[/b:5b3050cb30] Live Draft leagues will retain this ability to change their parks until the Sunday (11:59pm ET) immediately before their seasons start, going forward.

Keep in mind that there are times when we have to make decisions that may start out unpopular but are essential for our product's evolution, so don't expect me to cave each time there is any dissent. This ballpark thing just doesn't happen to be one of them, so I'm happy to reconsider it.

That said, I have two more issues that I definitely would like to get your opinions on; I'll be posting them shortly.

Thanks,
Bernie H.

Oh, and I WILL close up the "ballpark loophole" soon.

Hey Bernie,

what about making the ballpark change a selectable option when you set up a league?

Fair enough Bernie, thanks for listening to the voice of the community although I agree that the polls were pretty close. Maybe this could be an optional thing in the future although I'm sure you have plenty of other more important stuff to do.

And thanks for working on closing up the ballpark loophole.

In my case, expressing the opinion that I don't like the ballpark change option is the same as saying it is "awful!" I think it is a nice option as one of the additional choices for advanced rules leagues, like the weighted waivers system. For some, they want the option and if it can be managed re: software application and all, I think it is a good decision for the game. I just would never select it.

I think this decision got made and overturned perhaps a bit too fast. Not all of us had a chance to weigh in or vote.

I think the ability to swap out parks because your autodraft goes awry is more important than your opponents' suddenly overhauling their team and park to screw you.

The original decision was the better one, methinks.

Still, I applaud Bernie for both trying to improve the game and listening to 50+1% of the masses (give or take).

I agree with you, Tom, but reconsidering this decision does not preclude us from formulating and implementing a better solution in the long run.

Oh, Bernie, admit it. You're just a big softie.

I forgot to ask, what happens if someone does not pick a park?

well, I didn't get to vote either, and I definetly think it was a major IMPROVEMENT. if you're gonna rescind it, rescind it for LIVE leagues, not the autodraft. the autodraft is where you ALWAYS get screwed, and the team you built to match your park gets put on everyone elses team. atleast in a live draft, you can tailor your draft and adjust, and don't have to pick your park til the end. I thought this change was long overdue, and can only hope it is re-instated as quickly as it was rescinded, especially since you're always more likely to hear from guys who don't like it. do you really expect an avalanche of "yeah, great idea responses" as much as you're gonna get the complaints. obviously there was a groundswell to make the adjustment in the first place.
