Good advice for 2005?

Found this quote on the ATG2 site on advice for beginners. Does any of this sound like good advice for 2005?

"I recommend not even looking at stats till game 24 and making no roster moves till game 80. If at game 120 you are close, but need to tweak (5-7 games out), make changes based upon beating the key oppoonent in your division".

Well, it is a very general statement. I don't see anything wrong with looking at stats, just don't take them to seriously too early. A good player will usually do well over the course of the season. Stick to your guns. If after 80-100 games your team is floundering, sometimes you need to make changes. But another good quote from that thread goes something like...

"rarely do you make a team better by lowering the value thru add/drops"

The lesson here?? Do your homework prior to the draft, adjust as well as you can prior to the start of the season, and then, live with your decisions, and trust them!

If you find you are not very successful, then post your team on the boards before the season starts, you will get tons of good advice that might steer you in a positive direction!! :)

After about 40 games, I consider making trades or [b:6fb8499433]minor[/b:6fb8499433] free agent drop/adds if things aren't going well.

The only time I even consider making significant add/drops is late in the season if I am trying to catch up for a playoff spot and a player of mine gets the dreaded 15-game injury.

Good advice. I dropped a fairly expensive pitcher after the first night of the season and he had won! I thought I had to drop him because I didn't know HAL would start a reliever if I didn't have enough starters available.
