If the infield was Back then:
2nd & 3rd
[b:5b864ab96b]GBA[/b:5b864ab96b] = On ball hit to SS - runner scores (if less that two outs), runner on 2nd holds, batter out
[b:5b864ab96b]GBB[/b:5b864ab96b] = On ball hit to SS - runner scores (if less that two outs), runner on 2nd holds, batter out
[b:5b864ab96b]GBC[/b:5b864ab96b] = all runners advance one base, batter out at 1st

With the CORNERS IN refer to the INFIELD BACK section except when there is a runner on third base and the ball is hit to the 1st baseman or the 3rd baseman - in that case refer to the INFIELD IN section.

Looking at your situation:

1 23 A.Galarraga 2 Fielders Choice (SS) 3-H 2-3 b-1

The fielders choice is the SS throwing the ball home to get the out after the manager decided to send the runner. The runner was safe anyway. notice that the batter was safe at First, and the runners were safe at 3rd and home.

So the logic is right, just Phillips is too darn wiley.

on a side note, before Jimmy Rollins got hurt, he did the same thing in a real major league game this year.

there was a runner on 3B with less than two outs and the phils had the infield in. a ball was hit in the hole and, instead trying a deperation throw home, he threw to first. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
