pitching settings

Postby rgimbel » Thu Dec 08, 2005 9:31 am

I want my starters to go deep but once my pen is in I want them to be used for one batter each. I have set up slow hook on starters bullpen aggressive and quick hook and avoid the other side for my relievers. yet Glavine gets pulled up 5-1 pitching a one hitter with no earned runs to start the 8th and than Peavy gets pulled up 7-1 to start 8th pitching a 4 hitter. I have a 12 man staff with 7 relievers.

I don't know about settings that can help you rg since I've never tried to do what you are trying to. But, it seems to me that unless your SP pitches a complete game every third game you are bound to have your pen staying longer than you want onle because no one else is available. If your SPs make it through the 8th every time out then maybe you'got a shot at pulling it off. But as good as Peavy and Glavine are I think it's unrealistic that every start they go 8 innings.

Good luck

My understanding of aggressive is it will get the pen in earlier. You want to set it to "conservative" and then have relievers set to "quick hook", "avoid" and "1-2 IP max". I still think you will need 1 or two relievers who can face either side.
