Collegians League (limited pool: ex-college players only)

Postby AeroDave10 » Sat Jun 21, 2008 4:49 pm

After watching the CWS, I'm thinking about starting up a $100M or $200M league made up of only players who went to college. NCAA, NAIA or JUCO, it doesn't matter. Heck, even if they went to college in another country, that's fine with me, too. I'm leaning towards $200M just because there are a limited number of eligibile guys, and I don't want to make it even more difficult. After looking over the available players, my only other restriction is that each team can have only 2 catchers, as there are barely enough to go around (we need at least 24 eligible). Other than that, I think we would just need to draft the first 6-8 guys through the forum to settle some stuff out and then be ready for the season. If/when we get there, I would ask that you put the college that your draft selection attended just for clarification. I'm pretty excited about this, and I hope 11 other guys will be, too. Any thoughts?

(FYI, if you want to do some browsing, the CBS Sportsline website does a good job of listing colleges with every player's card).

It is fun to watch the College World Series! And the games leading up to it. However I think I will pass on the league. I am sure you will fill it. Good luck.

Believe me. I want nothing more than some kind of Cleveland championship, especially with our crushing defeat last year and subpar performance so far this year. Oh yeah, don't forget our 10-6 Browns who missed the playoffs and the Cavs getting bounced in the finals last year and the second round this year. C-Town needs a W!!!

I have loved the Browns and Indians for 30 plus years. Good luck with the Tribe!

Signups for Collegians League

Postby AeroDave10 » Sun Jun 22, 2008 8:43 pm

I'll get things rolling here. I'm considering putting together an Excel spreadsheet of all of the eligible guys to help other managers out. I don't know how / where to post it, so I might need help with that. Maybe if you give me your e-mail address, I can send it to you as an attachment.

Thatta boy, meat. I'm compiling the list the rest of the list tonight. Basically I'm just gonna take the downloadable spreadsheet of the 2007 players, remove the guys that didn't go to college, and add a column next to each guy's name stating the college they attended. This means I have to look up about 700 guys, but it'll get done in the next day or two.

Official Player List

Postby AeroDave10 » Tue Jun 24, 2008 11:27 pm

Ok, boys and girls. I have the complete list of available players as an Excel spreadsheet. There are just over 250 position players and about the same in pitchers. I think the easiest way is just to e-mail a copy to every participant. Sound good?

sounds good to me dave...I think you want to change the heading...it doesn't look like a league signup, just people comment on the cws or college baseball. I think even people who aren't big college fans, or have any idea where some of the big leaguers matriculated, would be more than interested in a limited player pool league...especially with a free speadsheet! :D
