Made a bonehead move and drafted Ortiz with my 1st pick in a Tour league and realized in the 3rd round that it's a No DH league. :oops:

Even more embarassing is that I set up the draft and reposted the rules. :oops: :oops:


Here's the dilemma. By the time 15 rounds are done all the top $$ 1B will be gone.

Would you play Ortiz and his 5e25 at 1B?

Grab a shovel... although he won't have as high an impact on runs as Hanley.

It won't be pretty, but at least at 1B he won't get as many balls, and you can always have a cheap defensive replacement for him (e.g. Mientkiewicz).

I'm currently using him in an autoleague at 1B and won another with Haffner at 1B. I would only plan to do it in a big hitting park or PNC though, where his offense will have a really big impact and runs will not be at a premium. Although by using your first pick to grab him, you have kind of put yourself in a hole. I would play in a power park now if you were not going to before. Might as well roll with it unless something unforseen opens up. If you played the 70's or 1969 game it wouldn't be so scary.

I say go for it there are 7 pips (chances) out of 108 of SS X and only 2 for 1B X muh less of an impact.. plus when the play is hit to a 1 3B Big Pappi always catches the ball lol

Thanks, I think DJ said it right. By taking him in the 1st round I'm pretty much stuck.

Casey Kotchman might still be available after the draft. He doesn't look like much, but I was sort of stuck with him in one league, and he put up 54 doubles. Not bad if you can then redeploy the rest of your money somewhere else.

Just make sure you've got a taxi for him! I've had to battle with Thome & Ortiz in one league and it has not been pretty, but then, for my clubs, it rarely is. :cry: :wink:
