I wouldn't worry, I've never seen this enforced.

momike don't worry about that. I live in FL which is also on that list and I have been receiving free credits as I earn them. SShhhh, don't tell TSN!

Like LM, I too live in one of those states (Arizona). I received 2 credits for winning an 05 championship.

The credits will be administered as such: You'll receive one credit for making the finals and the other when you win it. Both on Fridays and one week apart. I don't think Larry checks, or even cares where you reside.

This dates from the early days when TSN gave a CASH PRIZE instead of credits. That time is long passed, however.

I'd like to understand the origins of the rule about people in Arizona and Florida not receiving prizes for winning leagues - like wouldn't they have received cash prizes when Strat issued them?

And I don't think anyone would take the time to actually look at where you live to issue you a free credit - it's not like they have to mail it to you, so they have no real reason to look or even to care about where you reside.

Tell you what, MoMike - if you earn yourself some free credits and don't receive them the following Friday after your season ends, you send me a message on here. I'll give you one of mine.

I clicked on "Rules" -> "Winning Prizes." It is interesting that it still says:
[quote:f1c0514a22]Winning & Prizes

The team that wins the Finals for its league will receive free credits towards 2 additional Strat-O-Matic Baseball 2005 seasons. The team that loses the Finals for its league will receive a free credit towards 1 additional Strat-O-Matic Baseball 2005 season.

To be eligible to win a prize, Game entrants must be 18 years of age or older and a legal resident of the United States or Canada. Residents of Montana, Vermont, Louisiana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Arizona, Florida, Maryland, Colorado and the province of Quebec may play, but WILL NOT be eligible to win or receive any prizes. Entrants who are between the ages of 13 and 17 years of age may register to play the Game, but WILL NOT be eligible to win or receive any prizes. Employees, officers, directors, agents, and representatives of TSN, and their immediate family (defined as parents, spouse, children, siblings, and grandparents) and household members, sponsors, affiliates and entities for whom TSN builds and maintains the Game for use on their Web sites including Strat-O-Matic Game Co., Inc. and their respective parents, affiliates and subsidiaries (collectively, "Game Partners") and each of their respective advertising and promotion agencies are NOT eligible to win any prizes.[/quote:f1c0514a22]

As mentioned above, this is an official rule that was more of an issue when cash prizes were awarded. Technically, perhaps people in Arizona, minors, TSN employees, etc. aren't supposed to win free credits, but nobody cares and it doesn't seem to be enforced.
