(?) On Releasing and Buying Free Agents-Roster Lockdown?

My plan this morning was to release a player of about 3 million $, then release 2 other bench players of 500 $ each, then purchase a higher priced player. After releasing the 3 mill player, I can't release the next two players to get enuf funds to buy the higher priced guy since I'm at the minimum roster player number-so I'm in effect, on lockdown.

Is there a way of doing this? Why can't a team do this transaction all in one move-me dropping the three players, then having the $$ to buy the free agent?

Anyone ever done this before or been in this predicament?

I'm confused. Before you did anything, you had 25 guys. You planned to drop three and pick up one. That would leave you with 23. You're supposed to have at least 24. So why should you be allowed to do that?

I can do it by releasing one more higher priced player, which was the original plan anyway. I can't release this guy since I'm at the minimum now. Any way out of this?

No. you cant go below the minimum of 24 players. Dropping players is a bad idea anyway.

You can release a player and pick up another at the same time, even if you are at the minimum because the end result still keeps you at the minimum. But you can't end up below the minimum.

Yeah, that was the point I was trying to make, that he wants to end up below the minimum, so naturally it's not going to let him get there. The issue is not the money, it's the minimum # of players requirement.

You can drop that player and pick up someone, maybe a .50m scrub, if that's what you mean. You have to do a little bit of math beforehand.
