Carmona For 7 Million?

Carmona For 7 Million?

Postby lafayette1 » Sun Aug 10, 2008 12:27 pm

I have him on my draft list, and decided against better judgement to hold onto him with a high ranking.

He didn't do much in my league.

Anyone get any results from Carmona?

I had Carmona in my first 2007 league. My stadium was Kauffman, where singles come easy, but homers are hard. My defense was top notch. He won me 20 games, losing 16. His E.R.A. was 3.77 and his WHIP was 1.28. He gets a lot of ground ball As(double play balls). That team(with Carmona) won 87 and lost 75. I just missed the playoffs. I think he is a good ace. His card is probably the second best SP card in the set. Good luck!

Thanks....then I'll draft him. I'll be at Shea Stadium, and hope to accentuate defense and pitching. I just finished a Citizen's Bank team where I hit more than 100 homers more than any team in my division, but was last, 15 games out.

Layfayette1,
With the right pitching, defense, and stadium you do not need to have a ton of homers to win. What I love about Strat is that; defense really, really matters! Guys who only play fantasy baseball(and your average fan)do not realize how important defense is!!! The better your defense, the lower your pitcher's ERAs will be! If you are trying to win with pitching and defense make sure you get a park were it is hard to hit homers. Also players that steal a lot of bases can really help. And like the other gentleman stated; good solid trades can sometimes really spark both teams involved! Look at it like; you and the team you are trading with are basically conspiring to make each of your teams better, and gain ground on every other team in the league. Also most Strat payers seem to fall in love with HRs. You do not need a ton of them to win. Good luck!

Way overpriced. I had him in a pitcher's park and he was just average.

I have him in Citizen's Bank (live draft), anyone ever have him there? He has no BPHR vs lefties and is really good OB vs righties. I agree he seems overpriced, but most of the 6-7 mil range pitchers don't seem any better. I like Beckett better, but I managed to get him as well.

Yeah, I kept him and have my fingers crossed. I'm trying to have that goodfielding / defensive/ pitching club at Shea. My first foray into HAL, etc. yirleded a heavy hitting hr team, that hit more than 100 HRs than the 3 teams in front of me, but I finished 13 games out. I guess I needed to know how the Texas Rangers felt for 15 years.

I picked up Taveras in cf to leadoff, and got Herges (setup) by releasing another 7 mill. position player. Still need another relief p.
