Howdy,
My first SOM team appears to be in a pennant chase. I'm excited! My biggest worry is that I really don't have a decent defensive backup SS.
For 3 games or less, can a 4e22 get by at SS?

For 3 games or less, it is doable, but still not recommended. If your SS was 15 game injury prone - then by no means - unless your backup SS was Hanley Ramirez. ;)

Even the best SS's are not among the best offensive players so there is less pressure to get a good offensive player to replace them. You can still field a representative lineup without them. I think you are better off with a good defensive player but I wouldn't make a meaningful inseason cut to do it.

it entirely depends who your starter is. If he has more than 600 plate appearances, I wouldn't worry about it. I've won titles with a 4e8 at ss. If your starter is durable, go for it...
