Questions about CD ROM Game

Postby CLINTONHAVER » Sat Oct 11, 2008 6:29 pm

Before spending the $ on the CD ROM, I was wondering if someone could help me out with some questions. How does it compare to the Sporting News version? I read that you can play online with the CD version, are there CD ROM leagues out there to join, like keeper leagues or something?

I think a CD-ROM league would be fun because you would actually get to play the games. However, such a league would involve a major time commitment compared to TSN. Make sure you can make such a commitment and that you're willing to stick with it if your team does poorly.

I've never looked into a CD-ROM league myself because while I usually have enough time to commit, there are weeks here and there when it would be really inconvenient if not impossible to get my games in.

Can you do fantasy drafts on the CD ROM or do you have to manage specific teams (i.e angels, braves, etc)

I don't play the CD version, but from what I have read here in the past players are listed on their appropriate team but there is a draft feature in which you can set up teams with any players you want. So you could join a SOM online league and sim your division (or the whole league), and then compare the CD results with the online results.

been a while, but ...

Have not seen or played the computer version for years, but here's what I remember: It's pretty easy to play, you can do anything in the computer game that you could do in the board game, but if I remember correctly it's a bit tricky to set up teams initially and to manage the box score files. (Or it could be that my friend who was running the computer didn't know what he was doing.)

Sorry I couldn't be more help, but what I'm trying to say, I guess, is that if you're computer saavy, I think you'll enjoy the computer game.
