Yes, 2001 still lives on. 2 divisions filled, 1 division left to fill. Anybody get $25 as a gift left to burn a hole in their pocket for Christmas?

I've been itching to play for a long-time and I'm sure you'd love to have some rookie meat in your league. But I have some questions on how the game is run.

1. I work third shift. Now I heard that the deadline is 10pm. When I'm at "work" I am able to access the internet between calls and this is when I always check my fantasy/salary cap teams and plot strategy. Now I figure midnight is around when the next day's games are being "played". Are you still able to access your team during this time just to check your team, read old boxscores from the past week, check players on the waiver/free agent wire, and plot your lineups for the coming days/weeks ahead? I have more free time between 3-6am then when I get off work at 730am (Eastern time).

2. Let's suppose that I buy 5 teams (I won't this time as I'm just beginning). Do I have to spend them all at once or can I use them once a season. Can I split them between different stratomatic games (For example, one for 2001, one for legends II, one for back to the 80's and save the other two for "next season."

I'm convinced I want to play and when I buy my team today I'll probably even join your league. But any tips would be great.

ps BTW, you're probably wondering why a third shifter is up at 1pm on a Tuesday. Its my day off and I was checking my salary cap football teams that were updated after 5am this morning. I had been reading up on the stratomatic during last night's shift and just cashed my check this morning.

new paycheck + christmas money + reading about stratomatic = not a good day for my budget
(though I'm not buying five until maybe tax time)

Ok, I'm in. Still looking for answers to above. In a bit of irony, my team called the East Coast Rockers will play in the WEST division. Oh well.

Games seam to start running about 12:30 and finish around 2 or so.

Just based on the times I have seen. 2001/2002 I believe also seem to run first, and I have seen that happen as early as 12:15 once... but usually closer to 12:30

Thanks Doc. That actually sounds perfect for me. Can't wait to play. I had a blast drafting my team. When I started picking my reserves and backups and realized that I had an outfield of all left handers or switch-hitters and the primary backup that played all three positions was left handed as well I began to realize what I had gotten myself into. I can tell I'll be enjoying second guessing myself for the next nine weeks or so.

Of course, if we don't get another two managers recruited I may not be working third shift by then.

So here's my call. 2001 was a great season. Many great players had yet retired (McGuire,Sosa) and also included players who you used to love before they disappointed. (Palmeiro, Sosa). The rookies of yesterday are the all stars or busts of today and the up-and-comers are the overpriced superstars we moan and cheer for now (Tejada, Damon, and Giambi).

So take the plunge.

2001. Not quite what Stanley Kubrick had in mind but not bad for baseball. See you there.

We still need two. Expect an early frenzy when the league fills...
