LH 1B In P's park (Safeco:HR:1-7/1-7) HELTON or Fielder?!

I had Todd on my orig draft list and landed the $8M+ star.

Love the .320 /.434/.494. Only downside is little power vs LHs though avg/ob is okay vs portsiders.

Fielder is .288/.395/.604 overall. Plenty of HR chances vs LHs.

So when one takes into acct vs LHs who's the better player in a P's park?

Helton?! He's certainly better def 2e2 vs PF's 4. Offensively, Helton has better avg by 32 pts; higher OB% by 39 pts! But, Fielder trumps Helton easily in slg by 110 pts.

Weigh in with your opinion. This is a no spin zone :!:

I've been using Diamond Dope quite a bit since I do not have the CD with all of the players' info. There's a DIY tool there so you can manually enter player cards with any combination of bpSI and bpHR. I recommend doing that to compare players.

Personally, I might lean towards Helton if you have a few other quality sticks, and Fielder if he is your big bopper. Check the #s on DD to see for sure.

Helton's 2008 card is misleading, I'd take Fielder over him anywhere except AT&T, Fenway, and Angels Stadium. That .320/.434/.494 line looks great, but the card just can't support it. Look at the numbers:

Vs. LHP
Hits: 26
OPB: 49
TB: 33

Vs. RHP
Hits: 29
OPB: 54
TB: 54

There is no way Helton can hit .320. I had him playing at Coors Field and he hit .306/.410/.507; I think that's his upper limit of production, even in a hitter's park.

He is a pretty decent #2 hitter, but if I'm paying a 1B $8.5 million I'd want some serious power production. And don't worry about the defense, 1B is the least important position. Good luck!
Fielder's stats for comparison:

Vs. LHP
Hits: 26
OBP: 39
[b:16fd57f6c0]TB: 53[/b:16fd57f6c0]

Vs. RHP
Hits: 28
OPB: 48
[b:16fd57f6c0]TB: 61[/b:16fd57f6c0]

I've seen Todd do well for others. But for me, this was the first and last time I used Todd.

Thx to those who have replied so far inc my buddy "AeroSmith" Dave!

Fielder's owner has CB park so I doubt he'd trade for Helton, though both the team & Fielder are off to slow starts so you never know. Thx again!
