In HAL I trust ...

I was not able to set my lineups prior to the start of the season, so HAL did them for me. I think HAL did a very good job, considering all the different players I have, and of course it helps that I earned a sweep. :)

I was actually impressed that HAL used Bourn vs. RHP in CF and Wells vs. LHP. I figured HAL would use the same player, or even Spilboroughs or McLouth!

Here is hals lineup vs. RHP

T.Helton 1B 4 0 1 0 .250
L.Castillo 2B 4 1 2 0 .500
H.Blalock 3B 4 0 0 1 .000
A.Rios RF 4 0 1 1 .250
K.Lofton LF 4 0 2 0 .500
J.Reyes SS 4 0 0 0 .000
M.Bourn CF 3 1 1 0 .333
C.Ruiz C 3 1 2 1 .667
R.Hill P 1 0 0 0 .000

I probably would have batted Helton 2nd - but cannot blame HAL considering Heltons OBP

C.Snyder C 3 2 1 0 .333
T.Helton 1B 3 1 3 0 .571
R.Zimmerman 3B 2 1 1 2 .500
R.Spilborghs LF 4 0 2 3 .500
A.Rios RF 4 1 1 0 .250
V.Wells CF 4 0 0 0 .000
L.Castillo 2B 4 2 2 1 .500
J.Reyes SS 2 0 0 1 .000
M.Cain P

Again, HAL put a decent OBP guy at the top of the order ... and put the guys with the best TB chances batting 3-4-5.

Of course it helps that I only have 1 2B & SS so HAL could only use Castillo & Reyes at those positions. Nonetheless overall pretty happy with the lineups chosen, and the bullpen management

Might let HAL keep control until we go under .500. ;)

In HAL I do NOT trust

Check this out. Ryan Franklin in for relief, tie game in the 9th. Two outs, runner on 2nd, and he intentionally walks John McDonald (yes, John freaking McDonald!), to get to Grady Sizemore??!! :x

And to add insult to injury, he then intentionally walks Maicer Izturie (yes, Maicer freaking Izturis!), to get to Albert Pujols!! :x

Franklin's debacle

I had my intentional walk setting at Normal (have now changed to conservative), but wacked moves no matter what the settings.

It's no excuse and not even really related, but why did Franklin go 3 1/3 innings? I'd max him out so he can't do that.

On another note, I hate that HAL rarely recognizes the difference between a tie game and being down 8 runs. If you're winning by a little bit or a lot he can figure that out, but I hate to have the "mop up" guy come in when it's 2-2 in the 8th and my set-up guys are fresh.

Well I am now 5-1 so I will continue to let HAL manage for now. :)

The irony is that Fraklin's debacle came off his own card.

Arry, I would credit your draft for this record, NOT HAL! ;-)
