Rollins or pujols

I'm wondering what would be the advantages or disadvantages of taking Jimmy Rollins with my number one pick over pujols? I'm new to the game and want a solid (1) def at SS, I have a limited pool of players to choose from and Rollins is the only (1) availibe at SS. Is it worth taking a 2 at SS and grabbing Pujols. I'm at Camden Yards.

This is for a strat face to face league, but the games are the same.

Wright and R. Howard will be availible to pick after the first round. It's a three team expansion draft for a twelve team league.

Thanks guys!

Who are the other SS's that will be available, and who are the other 1b. I might lean Pujols, if only because he's one of the best players period, but if the drop off from Rollins to the available 2's is huge, then maybe Rollins, but you haven't given enough information to make a wise decision.

With the information provided I would take Rollins if there is a huge drop-off from him at SS to the other SS on the board. SGT D

Hard to say without the seeing the rest of your team... If there is no salary cap I'd take Rollins and play Howard at first.

I agree with other posters, without seeing your team it tough to give you an answer. All things being equal, I'll be the contrarian and toss in a vote for Rollins. The combined production he brings to the table with a lesser 1st baseman more often than not will be better than Pujols would bring with a lesser SS. There are plenty of 1st base studs out there, not many at SS, and given the options at SS you gave, the answer is clear, Rollins. Rollins and Howard, will produce more than Pujols would with the slop left at SS you just posted.
