Thoughts on '07 Camden Yards

I am giving this park a try with a new team entering the draft and waivers period tonight.

I tried to stack the team with some right-hand power bats and RHPs.

Any other pearls or tricks to think about?

Thanks to a great community.

Why do you have righty power bats if lefties fare better there?

Dave I don't know what Camden you are looking at, but Camden favors RH power hitters:

RH singles 1-9, HR's 1-14
LH singles 1-6, HR's 1-8

Obviously, pays to have righties that can hit righties - Ryan Ludwick is a favorite of mine, if you can platoon him with cheap extreme hitter against lefties you can get a good value.

And always pays to mix in some high OBP lefties- a platoon with Redman, or Schumacher (both ways), to name a couple.

Basically you can save money on some ballpark righties, and mix in natural OBP lefties for a good fit.

Players I like at Camden

Hitters:
Holliday (no brainer)
A-Rod (another no brainer if you think he's worth the $)
Rowand
Atkins
Kendrick
Raburn

Pitchers:
Escobar
McGowan
Schilling
Cain
Lowe

Oops. I was thinking of Yankee and Wrigley that have the 14-11 favor for lefties.

Whenever I think of Yankee Stadium, one of the first memories I always conjure up is the Jeffrey Maier / Tony Tarasco HR controversy, which was in the playoffs between the Yankees and Orioles. That must be why I was lumping Camden and Yankee Stadium together in my mind.

Thanks Everyone.

what other parks are in the division?

I would go with a 5 man rotation and grab some of the cheaper SP's that are effective against RHH. For Verlander and Bedard you could have 4 other good 3.5M+/- starters and spread the rest of the money around.

I like Fuentes but not as a LH closer in a RHH favored park.

You are a bit weak vs. LHSP...maybe J.Guillen in RF...although there are plenty of OF options.... Or cut Castillo for either Ellis or Hill?

Your current RHH's are nice ....but...I don't see the major RHH in the lineup....no Pujols, Holliday, or M. Cabrera, Wright, Hunter(?), Guerrero

maybe you can kill 2 birds with one stone....if available pick up A. Ramirez and move Atkins to DH. ..... upgrades infield D and provides awesomeness vs. LHP

so I had some time on my hands this morning....thought i would share.
