Is this BS or what?

On this team, stuff like this just seems to keep happening, and it beginning to piss me off a little bit. Sorry for venting, but take a look at this result (paying particular attention to the results when Frasor was pitching):

[quote:603aab6c2e] *** TOP OF INNING 6 ***
0 K.Johnson 5-3 Single & Error - P b-2 gb(P)x
0 2 D.Dejesus 1-8 Pop Out (SS) b-0
1 2 A.Rodriguez 2-5 Single (RF) 2-H b-1
1 1 P.Burrell 3-8 Single (RF) 1-2 b-1
SUBSTITUTE P - Jason Frasor
1 12 R.Martin 4-4 Single & Error - 3B 2-H 1-3 b-2 gb(3B)x
1 23 F.Thomas 6-4 Single (CF) 3-H 2-H b-1 fly(CF)x
1 1 M.Kemp 4-4 Single (3B) 1-2 b-1 gb(3B)x
1 12 J.Wilson 4-4 Single (3B) 2-H 1-3 b-1 gb(3B)x
1 1 3 P.Fielder 4-8 Single (RF) 3-H 1-3 b-1
1 1 3 K.Johnson 2-6 Double (CF) 3-H 1-3 b-2
SUBSTITUTE P - Brian Shouse
1 23 D.Dejesus 4-11 Strike Out b-0
2 23 A.Rodriguez 3-8 Single (CF) 3-H 2-3 b-1
2 1 3 P.Burrell 6-7 Single (RF) 3-H 1-3 b-1
2 1 3 R.Martin 6-9 Strike Out b-0
*** BOTTOM OF INNING 6 ***[/quote:603aab6c2e]

Now, on Frasor's card, the roll of 4-4 is a GB 3B(X) and the roll of 6-4 is a FB CF(X). Granted I have Garrett Atkins at 3B, but how does 3 out of 4 rolls come up 4-4 and then have all of those be a single, then throw in a CF(x) becoming a single with a 2(Granderson) in CF.

I know it's a dice game, and chance and probabilities play into all this, but this is just ridiculous, and it seems to be happening to this particuar team all the time. My opponents are getting boatloads of hits & runs, while just about all my regulars are well below their averages.

Being that this is my only team going currently, it's just really frustrating.

Oh, and why haven't we heard from Bernie in months? Does that concern anyone else?

To add to your frustration, how unlikely is it that 5 of 6 rolls go to pitcher's card with all 5 resulting in the batter reaching base? And that the first four pitcher card rolls were against righty batters, when Frasor does better against righties??

I actually the opposite, yet same, luck this year in a league with Carlos Marmol. This had to be one of the unluckiest seasons by a pitcher this year. It seemed like he had way less than 50% pitcher card rolls, and every hitter card roll was a hit, and a disproportionate number of his pitcher card rolls resulted in hits or walks. Granted this was in a live draft league (prone to more offense), but his card values of 1.43 ERA and 1.10 WHIP weren't even close to his season values of 5.06 ERA and 1.62 WHIP. He had a .207 BAA vs. RH and .313 BAA vs. LH, which is a bit more lopsided than I expected, too, but geez!!!

All I can say, Smitty, is that you are most definitely not alone in being frustrated nightly by HAL

Frustration aside...but after witnessing people being destroyed playing liers dice time and time again...I developed a strong respect that for short periods of time, probability can be out of balance and only after very large samples do things even out.

You have a right to vent, but there is a lot of luck in this game. Nobody is conspiring to cheat you. Losing sucks. This game is similar to poker, in that you need skill and luck to win. And it is also like poker in that sometimes the improbable happens. And sometimes you have long lucky, or unlucky streaks. All you can do is play smart, hard, and fair, and eventually your luck has to turn.
One of your complaints was the fact that Atkins gave up a base hit on an X chart roll, that is going to happen. He is a 4 for a reason. Maybe if you better understood how the dice, cards, and charts worked you would feel less angry. Fielders with bad range cost games, in real life and in Strat.
Keep your head up. Remember winners do not quit, and if you quit you will never win. Also losing builds character. I know I am throwing a lot of cliches at you. But here is one more;....a cliche is usually a cliche,.. because it is true.
I have been a Cleveland sports fan my whole life. What were the odds of Jon Elway having a 98 yard drive, and converting several 4th and longs? Cleveland fans(most anyway) do not quit or give up. We have been through year after year of no Championship teams. At least in Strat you have some control over your team. Bad luck is part of real sports, fantasy sports, and life. The question is;..how are you going to handle it? Crying or quitting is not the way to go(and I am not saying you are), you are just venting and that is alright.
As far as Bernie goes, I have no idea what you expect him to say about some bad luck. He is not out to get you. Fate will turn your way, if you let it. Good luck! Everyone needs it.

LA Bear, IT NEVER EVENS OUT. I have teams blow more saves than anyone in strat. And I am not talking about 1 or 2 run leads. Think 3-4+. And not just the 2nd tier closers or relievers, but the top guys as well. Here is a perfect example of why it will NEVER even out for me. 35 Blown Saves with only 24 Saves. Multiply this by the LARGE # of teams I have had and NO changes coming anytime soon for me.

We like to call Franks bullpen the "Zippo Pen" .....

not because it gives up zip but because it gets lit up everytime he uses it.

Sorry for doing that to you, Smitty. You are having some terrible luck this season, with Sabathia putting up a 7.70 ERA and a 1.83 WHIP. Things should even out, but our division is pretty tough. The good thing about this league is, there are a lot of ways to improve your team for the present or the future. Better luck.

Thanks guys, I appreciate most of the comments. Venting is good. Of course, I just got swept again.

Milter, however, I am not sure what to say to you. You seem to have missed the entire point of what I was commenting on. I don't need a refresher course on Strat. I've been playing for over 20 years now. And I've been on TSN from the beginning. I am familiar with HAL. I understand how it works. I even commented on the Atkins thing. I wasn't complaining that he gave up a hit because of his defense, it was because it happened [b:d8dcc58b39][i:d8dcc58b39]three times in 4 rolls[/i:d8dcc58b39][/b:d8dcc58b39]. Believe me, I get strat. And I wasn't expecting anything from Bernie on this topic, I was simply wondering where he's been and why he hasn't posted in so long, which is unusual.

And "fate will turn my way" if I let it ... what does that even mean? I hope fate is more concerned with other aspects of my life aside from StratoMatic.

I think you're trying to be positive, so I wouldn't hold it against you, but that whole post was just odd.

Well, it's a keeper league, so at least it looks like I'm headed to a top three draft pick.
