Three who passed recently are part of the San Diego Padres family .... former pitching coach for the Friars, Dave SMITH; former SP, lefthander on the inaugural 1969 Padres, Dave Roberts, and finally the first Padres manager, Preston Gomez, who just passed away at the age of 85. RIP.
