Has anyone fielded a team of just injury-prone players?

I'm just curious how they might have done for the season. I assume if you carry the minimum of 13 hitters, then only 4 can be out at any one time.

Some have been successful with this strategy. You can, however, have more than four injured simultaneously. Pitchers will play the field.

here's a team that kicked my butt with almost an entire roster of injury guys. 97 wins.

I do it all the time with my M*A*S*H 4077 teams. Catchers must have 3 or more points of injury and noncatchers must have 2 or more points of injuries. I am thinking of doing a variation where everyone on the team must be eligible to go down for 15 games so no * pitchers with 200+ inning pitched and no hitters with 600+ At bats + walks.

You assumption is wrong. HAL will send a pitcher out to play a position.

If the pitcher is a 5N or a 8 it might be worth him playing the field. :)

I read a post by someone showing a successful injury prone team and started a season with the following:
C-Mauer/Piazza/Ausmus
1B-Texiera
2B-Hudson
SS-Tejada
3B-Chavez
CF-Ford
LF-Mabry
RF-Walker
DH-Nixon/Giamb
Bench-Valent/Nunez/Blum/Hansen
Team was 15 games over .500, then I cut Chavez, Piazza & Mauer to pick up Mora & Estrada. Still 15 games over at game 141. It's tough to use all injury guys and successfully back them all up. There are some key multiple position back ups and injury combo's you need to consider IMO. I like the Nixon(DH) with Walker in RF combo. Mackowiak backs up the Walker with Glaus or Chavez at 3B injury combo nicely. Valent hits well vs rhp's and plays two positions pretty well, and Blum has "N" power vs both sides, is a switchhitter and can play 2B and 3B effectively. I like to have a decent back up from both sides when my guy goes down. Trying to make your MASH Unit effective even when injured is kind of like putting together a puzzle. A little predraft planning goes a long way, as you can usually get who you want if you pick them.

I drafted many high injury guys for this team on purpose. I have read that other people have had success with this strategy and wanted to try it for myself. My projected lineups are:

Lineup vs. LHP
1. Figgins, Chone (S) 3B
2. Spivey, Junior (R) 2B
3. Quinlan, Robb (R) 1B
4. Walker, Larry (L) RF
5. Werth, Jayson (R) DH
6. Cabrera, Miguel (R) LF
7. Wilson, Jack (R) SS
8. Piazza, Mike (R) C
9. Cabrera, Jolbert (R) CF

Lineup vs. RHP
1. Hairston Jr., Jerry (R) 2B
2. Wilson, Jack (R) SS
3. Mauer, Joe (L) C
4. Sweeney, Mike (R) DH
5. Walker, Larry (L) RF
6. Delgado, Carlos (L) 1B
7. Cabrera, Miguel (R) LF
8. Griffey Jr., Ken (L) CF
9. Quinlan, Robb (R) 3B

I have 11 players on the roster with an injury rating of 3 or higher. Five of them are a 5 or 6 injury rating. I have several backup players including a few that play multiple positions like Figgins, Hairston, Jolbert Cabrera & Merloni. Having to play a 3 fielder in CF (Cabrera/Griffey platoon) worries me more right now than all the possible injuries.

This team might suck but it will be be fun to see what I can do with it!

I tried it twice with very little success. It was fun and may try it again if I find the right park to do it with.

The secret with an injury team is that you can rank your line-up players later in the autodraft because they're not usually taken. The benefit is that you can go for stud pitching with your first 4 or 5 autodraft picks. If you don't do this, the experiment most likely won't work. That is exactly what I did for this 94 win championship. My pitching was far and away better than everybody else in the league.
