And I couldn't disagree any more with his comments on the ARod situation.
I just don't see how you or anybody else can give the guy kudos for coming clean. Aren't you suppose to?
And if he wasn't outed, would he have come clean and confessed?
Just like many athletes do when they're caught, they apologize. We shouldn't congradulate them.

i dont think we should congratulate him. but, at least, he didnt deny it. my guess is that over fifty percent of the players at the time were juicing. someone should really start lookin into the union and the owners a bit more. seems to me everyone knew what was goin on. it may have been encouraged. either way, i have a feeling its all gonna come pourin out in a few years. conseco wasnt ***********. just cause you didnt hit a ton of homers, doesnt mean you weent juicin.

Well, he saw what happened to Clemens and Bonds with their denial.
Then he saw what happened with Pettitte.

Did anyone notice it was a half-*** apology that contradicted itself? He admitted taking PEDs, but said he did it only from 01-03, because he felt the pressure of proving he was worth the Rangers huge contract.
BUT
He also said he didn't realize what he might have taken that was illegal, just that he was naive to trust what other people gave him
(OH REALLY, A-ROD? THEN WHY DID YOU SAY YOU KNOWINGLY TOOK THEM BECAUSE YOU FELT PRESSURE? HOW CAN YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHEN AND WHY YOU TOOK THEM, BUT IN THE SAME BREATH SAY YOU'RE NOT SURE WHAT IT WAS YOU TOOK THAT WAS WRONG?)
AND
He stopped taking when he went to the Yankees and baseball outlawed PEDs in 2004
(REALLY? YOU DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS ILLEGAL, BUT YET YOU STOPPED TAKING THEM WHEN THEY WERE OUTLAWED? KINDA CONTRADICTS YOURSELF, DOESN'T IT?)
So yeah, I agree with Visick 110%. He had a chance to come clean in his 60 minutes interview last year, yet did not until now, when he was caught. He says he didn't admit it last year, because he did not know it was illegal...ummm...then why did you start and stop, when you did, for the reasons you stated????
Giambi apologized for letting people down, but did not admit anything.
Clemens is denying everything.
Pettite apologized and said it was a one time thing (of course it was!)
ARod admitted to using, but not knowing he was at the time, even though he did it for a specific reason, and stopped for a specific reason.
Even when they're caught they're not taking blame. Really, only Canseco has been the only one to say he did, along with why and when.
He's not to be commended by any means either, but as far as I can tell, he's the only one to truly admit to any wrongdoing and fully take responsibility for it. Very sad...

I just don't care anymore. It was part of the generation. If a professional trainer told an athlete he could offer him something that was NOT banned by the sport at the time, to help recoup faster, many would (and did) say "of course". They were as much a part of baseball as amphetimines were in the 60's and 70's, but none of the writers say boo about their so called "heroes" of their youth. Yes, these players "cheated" the game, but no more so than those who got an edge taking speed, stealing signs, corking bats, scuffing balls, turning the AC off during half innings, and so on. Or are we now to say that certain types of cheating is ok, condoned, and expected?
Don't take this wrong, I too, like every baseball fan, am disappointed, not just for ARod, but for the sport in general. It's now consumed more air time than I care to watch anymore, to me, its past history, it's time to move on. I no longer care who did and who didn't. I enjoy the sport and the athletes that play it. Selfishly, if steroids made them excel in their chosen field, well, it was enjoyable to watch. Every major sport had, and maybe still does, a steroid issue. It's not just baseball. Anyone who doesn't think 50% or more in football is on the juice is either naive or they look the other way. Yet, there is no outrage, and we watch it every Sunday.
I'm tired of the sensationalism, I no longer care who makes what, who's screwing who, who's ingesting what, and so on. When I go to a game I want to sit and watch the best athletes in the sport play 9 innings. When I can't go to the game, I want to read about the game, not what happened when they took their uniform off. ENOUGH!!!!

Remember this too...there is no positive test for HGH. I am sure that A-Rod and many others are continuing to take it. That liar wants me to believe that he felt pressure to take roids when he signed that contract to play in relative obscurity down in Texas but when he went to the pressure cooker of the Bronx Zoo that he suddenly had the intestinal fortitude to stop taking performance enhancing drugs? Not to mention that stadium down in Texas is homer heaven and left field in the Bronx is death valley in comparison. This man has weak character by evidence of his actions with his wife and the interview with Katie Couric. A man looked on as a hero by our children but by his actions has proved that he is not deserving of it lacking honesty, integrity and virtue, which if a person doesn't have what does he have. Sorry A-Rod your money can't buy one particle of those attributes that your soul must be craving. Enjoy your money which is all you have now. Even that is being devalued every day. Justice has been served.

Actually there is a positive test for HGH...a blood test.
BUT, of course the players association says NO on that.
As a matter of fact, I too am tired of all this crap.
But I have an idea...
1. Shut the records books.
2. Since baseball is a business now and it's there to entertain people, let the players take what they want.
3. I wouldn't mind being entertained watching HOMERUN DERBY's everynight.
4. Put ALL players on 1 year contracts.
Let 'er rip!
Jerlins brought up a point about the writers. These guys are taking the high road. Some of these guys are responsible for voting in players to the H.O.F.
Some of them say they will never vote in Steroid users.
Were these guys blind? They were covering McGwire and Sosa. They covered Clemens and Brady Anderson. Did they think anything was fishy then? I mean I saw Sosa play in 1990. He looked like Otis Nixon. A few years later, and it's a middle linebacker running out to RF in Wrigley.
