New to S-O-M online - got a lineup question

Anyone feel like commenting on the following lineup (does it seem reasonable to you?):

1. Ford, Lew (R) LF
2. Beltran, Carlos (S) CF
3. Rodriguez, Alex (R) 3B
4. Konerko, Paul (R) 1B
5. Guillen, Jose (R) RF
6. Blalock, Hank (L) DH
7. Cabrera, Orlando (R) SS
8. Kennedy, Adam (L) 2B
9. Matheny, Mike (R) C

SBC is my home park and I'll switch Blalock and Guillen for RHP's. I understand baseball logic and wisdom, but I get the feeling there are different strategies to use in S-O-M.
Many thanks in advance...

I feel like your wasting Beltran's power in the 2 spot, but you don't really have a true #2 guy.

I thought about putting Kennedy there, and have a waiver claim in for m. Giles which would solve that problem, but we'll see. Thanks for the input.

Usually I bury the worst hitter in the 8th slot and have an OK OBP guyw ith speed in the 9th slot to help turn the order, in your case I'd swap Matheny to 8th and Drop Kennedy to 9th. Looks like a good lineup though. Have you checked the Newbie Advice Thread in the Strategy Forum? I think it talks at one point about general thoughts regarding Lineups in SOM.

Welcome to SOM-OL. Good Luck!

I did the same thing as Cummings suggested in the 2001 game I'm playing. Homer Bush is my righty is the 9th hole which leads to Ichiro-L # 1, Jeter-R #2, Cliff Floyd-L #3.

Seems to work so far.

Thanks for the advice - I've been playing fantasy baseball for years after playing the SOM board game, and now I know why I loved the game so much to begin with. The stats matter, and more than just by catagories. Anyhow, I did drop Kennedy and since SBC is my home park, I'm looking to build my lineup around speed and defense (ala 80's cardinals) and see how it fares.

I put in a trade offer for Mora/Lawton and I give up Blalock/Konerko. My thought if it goes through is to put Mora in the 2 hole and slide Beltran down to 3, etc. I could be full of it though and will figure out the nuances after playing for awhile.

Thanks again for the thoughts...
