Here's a little preview of the upcoming new 2008 player set, debuting towards the middle of next week. Below are the ballpark single and homerun effect numbers for the 30 parks that will be available with the new set.

While I was doing my research for setting up these parks in the system, looking for things that had changed from 2007 to 2008, I found out the following items. Did you know...

- the only team to change venues in 2008 was the Washington Nationals, who moved from RFK Stadium to the brand new [b:3fc864e864]Nationals Park[/b:3fc864e864]?

- the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim play in "[b:3fc864e864]Angel[/b:3fc864e864] Stadium of Anaheim", not "[b:3fc864e864]Angels[/b:3fc864e864] Stadium of Anaheim"? This has always been the case, but unfortunately, we've been erroneously including that extra "s" all this time. We apologize for this massive inconvenience and will do everything we can to correct it.

- the Florida Marlins play in "[b:3fc864e864]Dolphin[/b:3fc864e864] Stadium", not "[b:3fc864e864]Dolphins[/b:3fc864e864] Stadium"? This has NOT always been the case, as they dropped the extra "s" on 4/8/2006, for unknown reasons. Still, we also had this wrong last year, and beg for your forgiveness.

- Jacobs Field was renamed to [b:3fc864e864]Progressive Field[/b:3fc864e864]?

No question about it. How about that. Maybe a worthwhile [i:168c3cd82e]Search the Forum[/i:168c3cd82e] won't be far behind.

Fenway Park is at 2 and 5 for home runs? I would have thought it'd be a lot higher.

Jacobs field to Progressive field is because Cleveland is such a progressive town.

Well, not exactly, Progressive Insurance was started by a Cleveland man named Peter Lewis. Mr. Lewis is a very cool man who has donated millions to charities ranging from; finding cures to aids, to legalization of marijuana 8-)

So instead of the "Jake" we now have "The Prog".

With all the problems at the new Mets CitiField, perhaps better thought of as "Our Field" since we all collectively will own CitiBank soon, could always be called Made-Off field in honor of another great American.
