starting a league wanted suggestions on how to set up my rotation

Tim Hudson
Dontrelle Willis
Matt Clement
Oliver Perez
Kris Benson

I play at Bank One and have a decent hitting team with ARod, Sheffield, Konerko

I also have Richie Sexson as my DH, can I count on him to stay healthy there.

You have 2 sp with *, see if you can trade them for better pitchers at same value (because pitchers with * have a higher value but not as good as a card with those at same price w/o that).
If not, then I would go:
Hudson
Perez
Clement
Willis
Benson
My worthless two cents!

so hudson is a viable #1?
I'll try and see what i can get for trades on willis and benson, but I don't really want to get rid of them. their cheap and should get me 200 quality innings.

I believe that if you put those 5 pitcher's into "Your Rotation" then the 2 SP's* (Willis and Benson) will pitch every 4 days and that your 3 remaining SP's (Hudson, Perez and Clement) will pitch ir-regularly between the starts of the other 2.

In other words:

Game 1 Hudson
Game 2 Perez
Game 3 Clement
Game 4 Willis
Game 5 Benson
Game 6 Hudson
Game 7 Perez
Game 8 Willis
Game 9 Benson
Game 10 Clement
Game 11 Hudson
Game 12 Willis
Game 13 Benson
Game 14 Perez
Game 15 Clement
Game 16 Willis
Game 17 Benson
Game 18 Hudson
Game 19 Perez
Game 20 Willis
Game 21 Benson

etc, etc.

Not what you want since your non SP's* are your better starters.

Your best bet is to just set your "Per Game Starters".

is Bank One Ballpark too much of a hitters park for these pitchers to suceed?

Your other question about Sexson, yes, he is gonna get hurt, a lot. But, he is worth the risk, in a hitters park. Positive clutch, homeruns galore. Hit him in the 6 or 7 hole. Use the clutch to your favor. Get a backup for Sexson. You'll need it.

he'll be batting 7th and he's my DH, I figured i would need other options but didnt want to get rid of him for his upside.

I've had some success with Sexson, expect around 350-380 ABs 60-80 BBs and around a HR for every 10 ABs. I have bat him further up vs. LHP or at least with one good slugger behind him since he usually gives me prety good OBP vs lefties.

I used to use him as a DH but I like his defense, so if I my regular 1B's D is worse than 2e7 then I just play sexson on 1st.

In relation to what coffee was talking about I think that if you list your *SP on the 4th and 5th then HAL won't skip your 1,2,&3 starters, I think that priority to pitch is given to the order in which they go on the rotation i,e as soon as the #1 is ready to pitch he'll pitch no matter what, when the #1 is not available then the number two and so on. I may be wrong and to be honest I'd listen to coffee 100 times before I even consider what I have to say, but anyway I think that it's not maxing your investment, either your non-*SP start less games than what you are paying for or your *SP start even less games than what you payed for.

Anyhoo, this is all academic since you are setting your starters per game.

One of the few advantages that having Willis and Benson is that their being capable of starting on 3 days rest can help you alter your rotation so that your best matchups fall in key series towards the last divisional run.

Personally I like straight 5 man rots better but I have ended with little elbow room in the past since I also don't like to carry spot starters in my pen...any injury to a SP and I'm thrown for a loop

Good luck,

another reason why I wanted to keep at least one of them is to allow flexibility in pitching matchups late in season. I have Konerko at first 3e7 over sexson , but was still thinking of bringing in someone who could play 1B, either good defense or L bat.
