halfway point: surprises? disappointments? worth-the-money?

Anybody interested in commenting (about players on your team or in your league) at the half-way point of the first season of the new set?

Who are the surprises?
Who are the disappointments?
Which expensive players are worth the money?

I know it's a small sample, but it would be interesting to hear.

Here's mine -- Surprise: Daniel Murphy, 3.67m, my DH in PNC, 316/415/498, on track for 94 walks and 180 hits including 30 doubles, 22 triples, and 10 HR; 12th in the league in OPS. Steven Shell, 3.81m, 39 games, 61 IP, 1.13 WHIP. Ervin Santana, 6.95m, 21 starts, 167.2 IP (!!), 3.06/1.08; 1st in league IP and starter's WHIP, 2nd in WHIP overall.

Disappointment: Russell Martin, 5.66m, 256/352/329 (granted, slugging hurt in PNC, but not that much: he's on track for 10 HR in 162 games, compared to 13 in real-life 155 games). Mark Buehrle, 3.3m, 19 starts, 5.67 ERA, 1.41 WHIP on a team with good defense.

Worth the money: Johnny Damon, 6.18m, 306/380/492, 14 SB, 13 HR, 20th in league OPS. Joe Saunders, 5.12m, 20 starts, 134.2 IP, 4.21/1.37. Dustin Pedroia, 9.98m, on track for 198 hits including 60 doubles, and 96 Runs and 102 RBI; 3 errors in 81 starts at 2B.

In my league on another team, I'll note Ryan Church, on track for 30 HR in hitter-unfriendly Tropicana -- 3.23m, 296/370/545, 11th in league OPS. And: Anthony Reyes, 15 starts in Minute Maid, 3.03m, 3.05/1.15.

As I'm not playing anymore teams (unless I win credits), I can give away the guys I like best

Callaspo, Alberto - backups 2B and 3B, hitting well over .300 in every league with 60-100 ab's

Beimel, Joe - if you guys know how I like to build my pen (closer, setup, 1 RH specialist, 1 LH specialist, 1 mopup) I always use a cheap mopup. Chulk and Rodney were my guys last year, Beimel is it this year. Can't ask for anymore than soaking up innings when your Sp gets knocked out early and doing decently for under $1.

Pagan/Bloomquist platoon: Been using Matsui as the backup to both and working pretty good for a leadoff/#2 spot. A lot of OB for very cheap, albeit very injury prone.

Doumit, Ryan - Honestly this is the thinnest 1B pool in 200x history. This guy is usually available and hits a lot, what's not to like?
