couple questions

Once more I did not get the players I wanted. I am playing in Petco again and I have a couple of questions.

First, is Manny Ramirez a waste in Petco? Is Pierre's defence a liability in Petco where he would be more suited to DH? And last, how did I end up ELEVENTH in the waiver list when I didn't get all the players I wanted and I have 20 MIL to spend? Oh...I have a couple of backups at 1B...Merloni and Dave Hansen. One has to go and I have to get a starter eh?

post a link ;)

ramirez is not a waste, in my opinion, he has very good natural HR power from both sides of the plate, that is what you need for petco, bat him as DH unless you can't find another good left fielder. I've always wanted him in petco but can never seem to get him.

natural HR power meaning he has a good amount of HRs on his card that are not from ballpark values

pierre is NOT a defensive liability, don't let his arm rating scare you, the arm rating counts for so little in this game, what is important is his cf 2e2 rating, which is good, do not drop pierre! He is also one of the better lead off hitters in the game, good speed & OBP.

You have to have some power in your lineup even in Petco. That being said I would not keep Manny unless you can DH him. He should be easily tradable if you need to do so.

Deffinately keep Merloni over Hansen.

Keep Pierre. He should do great for you in CF. You will need some good corner OF arms (-1 at least) to offset his noodle throwing arm.

ramirez

I disagree with bomber. for me ramirez gives u the best bang for the buck for a hitter that does well vs all kinds of pitching in all ballparks. of course it is much better to dh him but if he has to play left it is not the end of the world. i won 93 games with him in left at sbc he led my team in all offensive categories and led league in rbi.

Hey guys, thanks for your help. I was wondering about Manny but I will keep him. I haven't checked yet but there are most likely some hitter parks in the league so I should keep him. As for Pierre, I had no plans on dropping him either. Just wondered if I should DH him or let him play in the field.

I don't know what I'm going to do as far as getting other players. I got 20 MIL to play with but I'm 11th on the waiver list. I will post a link to my team, pre-waivers.

what I like about your draft(from a hitters prospective)

lew ford
juan pierre
manny
izturis
loretta

guys see on your waiver wire that I like

orlando hudson
sean casey
thome
drew
rolen
brian roberts

I like to try to pair a power lefty with a power righty
ramirez & casey/thome/drew

I could see the top of your lineup being something like

ford
pierre
ramirez
casey/thome/drew

you have two excellent lead off potential players in pierre and ford, you could try to trade one or the other, both are usually very sought after

GRAB CASEY!!

seriously, whenever I build any pitchers park team, he is the 1b I try to get. Bat him 4th behind Manny, and you won't be sorry. Drew is nice (prefer him batting 2nd) but in Petco he's had BA's in the .250 range (still .380+ obp) and not great for driving in runs there.

Good ideas guys. I was looking at a few of those players. I think I am in better shape with my hitters eh? I'm having trouble deciding what to do with my pitchers. Most of them I think I'll keep but I can't decide if I should keep Maroth or drop him for Washburn. They both seem so similar to me.

i like getting hudson instead of loretta and having hudson and izturis up the middle getting casey and rolen would then give u a heck of a infield and real good lineup of course u do need a couple of starters. guys i have used in the past who have been good for me and may be available are wright halliday clement lily glavine peavy
grienke might actually be ok in petco and maroth wont be that terrible either esp if u get the good def i dont love leiter gives up too many walks

Hey I hear ya. I have another Petco team that's solid up the middle with Castillo, Izturis and A. Jones but they aren't scoring. That's why I figured I'd go with Loretta on this team.

Some of those pitchers you mentioned are already gone. I offered someone that needs a closer, Frasor for Eaton, as Eaton was on my card and he did well for me in Petco before. Lilly was brutal for me...went 0-6 and I traded him.
