Maddux or Moyer?

Postby enwll34 » Wed May 13, 2009 10:09 pm

In Yankee Stadium I currently have Oswalt,Saunders,Volquez, and am deciding between Maddux or Moyer for the 4th spot.Anyone have any opinions on who to use.I'm leaning to Moyer.

I think Maddux grades out just a bit better, but the +7 hold is a killer. Take Moyer, but I'm not sold on Saunders. I haven't seem him do very well so far.

I don't like Oswalt, Saunders will do well in your park provided your division mates aren't too huge of lefty killers but the park will help you, Volquez is a bargain, Moyer is not great for your park but still better than Maddux.

You might be better off going cheap for your fourth starter and using the money elsewhere, if you want to post the list of available *SP I would be happy to comment maybe you could find a better #1 and #4 combination.

I'm thinking about using the Maddux money on upgrading to Geovany Soto or possibly Brian Giles as my obp could use his help.

My friend, why do you have 5 * pitchers? If it were me I would drop both Maddux and Moyer (or, try to trade them if you have a 20% penalty) and picky up Perez and Anabel Sanchez as a nice alternative to righty stacked lineups (you'll hardly ever use him, and he's only .50m). That's gonna give you some cash to work with.

Players you have that are ill suited for your park:

Uggla
Kemp (unless you see a TON of lefties)

Who's playing the corners vs. RHP (the majority), Kemp and Melky?!?!? Melky is a good backup, and Guillen kills as a platoon, but c'mon...

Yunell is great as a platoon SS, but pick up Renteria or Tulowitzki to platoon with him.

Remember when making changes, that you are penalized for drops, and so you end up with a smaller salary cap than everyone else in the league. Try to trade when possible.

What kind of corner OF are available? Is this a DH league? I assume Howard DHs and Votto plays first?

You playing DeRosa at third or platooning him with Dobbs? I'd look for a 2B, Cano is not the answer, what's available there? Playing a 4 or 3 up the middle is a big reason why this team is probably not doing great.

League hasn't started yet.Thats why I'm trying to get a few opinions before I decide for good.

The $$ from 1 of the pitchers is going to offensive help so rotation/lineups are not set.
Right now I have an Uggla/Cano platoon.
Have Derosa at 3rd.
Dobbs platoons w/ Guillen
Melky is a backup.
There are quite a few lefties in the division especially top lefty relievers so considering playing Kemp fulltime.

Is this an "Iron Glove" bad defense theme league, or are you voluntarily playing such poor defenders at so many positions??
