I had Jon Garland go down for 15 games. Is this a system glitch or a "rare play" result?

An asterisk has no bearing on injury length. If your pitcher had 200 or more IP then he has a 3 game max injury. 199 2/3 or less and he could get the 15 gamer. Most asterisk pitchers are over 200 IP but not all.
