Since it is just another choice it can't be all bad,...unless it turns a multitude of players off. However, I would not try a 24 team league unless it was strictly 60 million $ salary cap. And even then the opportunity for a draft night ,"Let Down", is VERY HIGH!

12 Teams multiplied by 80 million = 960 million dollars of players

24 teams X 60 million = 1.44 BILLION

So that means everyone should be able to field a quality team with a 60 million dollar cap.

Two thoughts;

1. Winning the Division is EVERYTHING and the ONLY thing, and I can't say I like that! What if you are in a division with Altec1969, PBTR, Jerlins, Jeep, and AeroDave you are basically screwed! This is NOT MLB baseball we do not have division rivalries!!!! It should be two 12 team divisions with the top 4 from each making the playoffs! Some are complaining the league will be over after the draft, well for some the league will be over BEFORE THE DRAFT if you get in the WRONG division! Trust me on that! It should not come down to signing up for the weaker division.

2. The rosters should be bigger. Teams are going to have to win by any means necessary when they miss on draft picks. This means platoons, bullpens by committee, and role players, lots of role players. I think larger manditory rosters would help even things out where they might become not even. For instance; if you miss all the good catchers, you can have a platoon that allows you to compete. Larger rosters would make it easier for people who miss on the star players to contend. And it would add more realism.

Even though I may not be doing too many 24 team leagues, it is another option and I can NOT fault Bernie or TSN for that. Keep up the GREAT work, and keep on playing STRAT!

I'm pretty much a newbie, but doesn't the 24 teams mean you go MUCH deeper into the draft pool? I'm good with that.

THAT will be a challenge. I get sick of the leagues where you basically have an all-star at every position. Where's the skill in that?

I'm not sure you'd be able to go 60M with 24 teams because all of the lower priced players will get eaten up.

The biggest downside to the 24 team leagues (as I see it) is that the autodrafts will be crazy luck. You have virtually no chance at getting the players you want with 23 other players drafted alongside you.

Having live drafts (eventually) will be marathons unless you use very strict time deadlines.

Btw, I like the idea of winning the division getting you a credit, but I'd like to also see two wild cards with first round byes to top two division winners.

Lets give it a whirl once or twice then we can critique and offer suggestions for enhancement. This is a big challenge for any player. I agree with allstar inc.

There seems to be one or two power teams in every league ive ever been in and this also has alot to do with the draft.

strategies and player usage will very interesting. limited allstar players on teams will be more like the real majors.

I am giving a 24 teamer a try in ATG. 1900 player pool, there should be plenty to go around. You can not look at the draft at all the same. There are going to be players you won't see guaranteed. 15 managers may go for the same player so draft strategy is huge. It's basically thinning the herd. You won't have the powerhouse teams and you better know the lessor players because your going to need them more than ever. I say : Give it try and if it doesn't work out for you well then its doesn't work out. :wink:

Just went through $60M 24-team draft Sat, waivers Sunday.

There maybe are 1 or 2 managers who've voiced that their not happy with how their teams turned out, but for the most part, everyone else has chimed in that they're pretty satisfied. For my own part, I hit in my first 7 picks, and only missed out on 4 altogether.

I missed on a CF both in draft and waivers (I was 24th!), and so had to settle for some sub-$1M guy whose name escapes me at the moment (their were higher priced options available, but they were all 4's or had only 3 hit chances on their cards!).

Season starts tonight, don't really know what to expect, but this has been fun trying to piece together a decent squad with so much of the available talent in demand.

It's easy to snag a higher priced guy, but I was so worried about pitching disappearing I had concentrated more on that.

I may make more moves after work...you definitely have to be very thoughtful on how you put your team together...

I'm in both the $60M and $80M leagues and have gone through the autodraft and waivers. The $60M format is better in that there is league balance and guys can still improve and tinker with their teams. In the $80M league, there are guys who are stuck around $70M and can't improve themselves or make themselves more competitive because the FA pool is gone.

In the $60M autodraft things went well for me. Got my first 6-7 picks including all 5 of my SP. That's the key, because pitching dries up quickly.

I thought I was going to be hurting for a playable SS because I ended up with Cora (3e22) in the AD, but somehow found Michael Young on the FA list after waivers. CF is probably tough going, too (I have Span but I'll platoon Wise and Taveras).

The non-DH league $60M would be a good one as well, I'm sure. $80M seems broken.

It appears with an 80 mil team you will be utilizing the pitcher prefs and stratagy settings a lot ( I know I will). Also a lot of platooning. I have yet to play a 60 mil. league. Either way I am happy because you having to play and set the gme instead of just getting a team and letting them go
