I am firmly convinced that any success I've had is luck because I truly do not understand this game.

Is there any explanation for why this team is so bad? I didn't think I was going to win 100--but I can't even win 1 at home.

thoughts from people who do get it would be appreciated.

Not an expert but,

1) Your OF & Lee will hit better. Sometimes you have to ride this out.

2) Take a look at your pitcher settings. Francisco & Smotz aren't being used enough. Put Closer to regular.

3) IMHO, too much money in BP. Find cheaper alt to Mercker and upgrade somewher else.

Starting pitcher settings - Schmidt should be the only pitcher on slow hook. The rest on regular or quick. And Stoney is right - either you just got Francisci and Smoltz or you need them set as set up and set up set to aggressive. Also agree that Merker does nothing for you.

Understand the D Lee hr's come from a lot of bphr, can't count on him putting up big hr #'s in Kauffman. Polanco hurts your infield defense some. The other hitters should come around.

You have 1 natural rh hr hitter and 1 natural lh hr hitter, is that enough? Merker could get you some dough. I would try to find 1 more natural power guy to put with what you have. That's just me.

Stick with it.

thanks guys.

I've had Smoltz and Francisco from the outset--closer is geting limited innings for obvious reasons.I guess I need to try more aggressive bp to get Frankie in there, but so far he's getting ripped. I had pretty decent success with a similar team and Mercker was a stud--as I say--may just have been luck.

I appreciate the input.

I've had D. Lee at Yankee Stadium and he hit very poorly for me as well, although he was set to win the gold glove when I traded him. I'd rather have a left-handed bat whom you are not going to pay dearly for defense as you do for D. Lee's 1e6 rating, for 5.87 mill you should get some good offensive production. First basemen defense seems less of an issue in strat whereas in real life a vacuum at first can save your other infielders from throwing errors. That's only my opinion though.

lineup is:

Pierre
Clark
Ramirez
Hafner
Lee
Wilson
Polanco
Castillo
Perez.

vs. lefties I put Lee at clean-up and move Edgar Martinez in for Hafner.
I was leary of Lee as well, but I thought in Kaufmann I needed a righty and figured at least he'd hit for avg. if not great power.

be patient. i started a season 0-9 losing by scores of 17-3, 24-1, 26-1 and 24-3. now i'm 70-50 and in good shape for the wild card. don't panic yet. you are only 15 games in.
