Never before attempted Theme League - The GG BUG League
Posted: Mon Aug 31, 2009 5:43 pm
GG BUG standing for: The Great, the Good, the Bad, the Ugly and the Grotesque.
Here's how it works:
$80 mil
Weighted Waivers
DH
5/10/20 free agent penaltys
Divisions assigned based upon mgr rating: Top four ratings in East, next four in Central and lowest four in West. Veterans fight it out amongst themselves, regulars in their own division and newbies in their own division. (depending upon who signs up it is true there could be some spillover)
Trading is allowed with one caveat: Once the season starts you may NOT trade or drop any of your GG BUG players. Before the season begins you MAY trade or drop your GG BUG players.
So what is a GG BUG player?
Great - You must have one player who is great ( Over $7 mil and is either a *SP, CF, 1B or 3B. He will also be your most expensive player at all times.)
Good - You must have one player who is good (Between $5 and $7 mil inclusive and is either a *SP, CF, 1B or 3B.)
Bad - You must have one player who is bad (Between $3 and $1 mil inclusive and is either a *SP, CF, 1B or 3B.)
Ugly - You must have one player who is ugly (Less than $1mil and is either a *SP, CF, 1B or 3B.)
Grotesque - You must have one player who is grotesque ( Any price less than your Great player and is a 4 or worse defensively and plays SS or 2B)
There you have it. You will own some combination of 1b, 3b, cf and *sp in each price range and one 4 or worse defensive middle infielder. The rest of your roster will be comprised of players less expensive than your Great player and fit within the salary cap while meeting the normal position requirements dictated by TSN.
Other rules:
1. All GG BUG players must start every game at their required position barring injury (not involved in a platoon as a hitter and must take their regular turn as a starter).
2. All GG BUG players may not have an injury chance of greater than 1.
(Only 0 and 1 considered)
3. Once the season starts the GG BUG players are the core of your team and may not be released or traded. They must start every possible game that they can barring injury or not being their turn in the rotation.
4. All teams will have a four man *SP rotation with one non asterisk starter who will never be used as a starter or in relief.
5. Place your GG BUG players on the top 5 spots of your draft card.
FYI:
Here are the number of available players who meet all of the conditions:
GREAT - 4 *SP, 8 1B, 4 3B, 5 CF
GOOD - 13 *SP, 12 1B, 7 3B, 13 CF
BAD - 14 *SP, 28 1B, 29 3B, 24 CF
UGLY - 3 *SP, 29 1B, 32 3B, 25 CF
GROTESQUE - 29 2B, 37 SS
Anything else that I havent thought of will be discussed by the league members with my decision final.
