B.J. Ryan: Anyone have any luck with him @ Shea

Rolled snake eyes in the drafts and got a number of replacement RPs. The leader of the pack is BJ Ryan, and I'm looking for some Shea expert advice...can he he an effective closer? Of course WAGS is not available, but Benitez is out there. My tendency is to try to pick up Armando.

In my opinion, BJ is the man at Shea. See if you can get qk to answer this but BJ is great.

Better yet LA, look at his card. Last year I was going through my first ever card order, looking for pitchers with lh low bphr's for a Shea team I was putting together and up comes BJ's card. I wept.

Thanks. I'll trust in your advice. I haven't played in awhile, and I've never gotten a handle on the "R2/C2" stuff. I suppose that I'll set him as my closer, coming in no earlier than the 8th unless someone objects violently.

PS: The other ballparks in my division are: Pro Player, Fenway and good old Wrigley. Of course - the Wrigley club is loaded with RH power hitters. Pre-waivers, he looks like he'd be effective against the other two lineups.

I'd put him as set up cuz in my experience set up men get more innings than closers. I'd think he would be great for Shea.

I've had a lot of success with Ryan at Shea, but I would be wary if he was my only big RP. Righthanded teams can hurt him pretty good. I usually combine him with another stud RP who can protect that side.

Had him in Safeco paired with Lidge. Posted some very good numbers. Like others have said, you're better off with a pen mate.

I usually try to draft an R2 like F. Rodriguez, but my guess is either he's not available or you don't have the cash. Someone like Ayala is a nice option for less money. Bottom line is you need a RHP to take some of the heat off of Ryan.
