We're pleased to present to you:

[b:707d4cc5d8]Strat-O-Matic Baseball: The 1999 Season[/b:707d4cc5d8][/size:707d4cc5d8]
http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/about/player_set_1999.html

That's right: tonight we're gonna party like it's 10 years ago! When monsters named [b:707d4cc5d8]Mark McGwire[/b:707d4cc5d8], [b:707d4cc5d8]Sammy Sosa[/b:707d4cc5d8], and [b:707d4cc5d8]Jeff Bagwell[/b:707d4cc5d8] roamed the earth. [b:707d4cc5d8]Larry Walker[/b:707d4cc5d8] put up a gaudy .379/.458/.710 line. [b:707d4cc5d8]Piazza, Griffey, and Palmeiro[/b:707d4cc5d8] all launched 40+ HRs... all in all, 13 players in total reached that mark.

Let's not forget [b:707d4cc5d8]Pedro Martinez[/b:707d4cc5d8] (313 K's) and [b:707d4cc5d8]Randy Johnson[/b:707d4cc5d8] (364 K's) during their legendary peaks, the way we'd like to remember them.

Notes:

- Here's the handy Excel file with all the players with their stats and salaries.

- You can immediately use your available "universal" SOM team credits to play, and even switch existing undrafted teams under another set to 1999 with ease. The item you want to purchase (or claim as a prize from a Finals team) is labeled "Strat-O-Matic Baseball Online: ATG, 2008, 2007, 1999, 1986". Yeah, we'll want to do something about that name before it gets any more unwieldy.

- Live Drafts are available!

- [b:707d4cc5d8]Doug Glanville[/b:707d4cc5d8]: .325/.376/.457. 'Nuff said.

And the hits will keep coming. Planning for the next ATG update is still progressing, and meanwhile I'm going to keep bombarding you with new features and fixes.

Enjoy the new set!!

Yeah, nice kudos to Glanville. Great lead-off card for a NL league: lots of single**.

But who could forget [b:d0870d106e]El Guapo! [/b:d0870d106e] Awesome card!!!

No card for Ramon, Pedro's big brother??? :( :(

Thanks Bernie, this will be a fun way to bridge the gap between 2008 and 2009.

One more year (2000) and you can shorten the name to Strat-o-Matic Online: ATG, 1999-2008.

Bernie,

As a true blue Brewer's fan, how could you possibly put out this set? This has to be about the worst pitching staff I have ever seen. TEN pitchers are at .50 cents, and most of them don't even deserve that. The Brewer's "best" pitcher is Steve freaking Woodard!!! (2.17 Mil) Only one guy in the pen is above the minimum.

Some decent offense however.

I like Fernando Vina's card: "1-7 Single** +injury"!!!

It's also a bummer that on Jim Abbott's last ever strato card he's a #1 hitter. He poked out a couple of hits in 99, and with only one arm, I think that's worth an honorary #2 at least.

Is there gonna be a [b:751bda0d96]Strat-O-Matic Baseball: 1999 forum[/color:751bda0d96][/b:751bda0d96] added?

I'm re-purposing the existing 1969 forum to include discussion about the 1999 set and be a catch-all, "historical single season" forum. The 1986 forum will be merged eventually when I have time to manage the posts.

[quote:ab7b9acd7d="Aray0113"]the playing surface at Seattle '99 is called Gurf ... is this just a (hilarious) typo ... ?[/quote:ab7b9acd7d]
It was an intentional fabrication of mine... Seattle '99 is a mutant hybrid of the Kingdome and Safeco Field because the Mariners moved in the middle of the season. One was grass, one was turf... so I called it Gurf. Glad it gave you a chuckle.
