Managerial Rating

Hi all,

I am very new to SOM Online, but I am enjoying playing with my first team -- the 1999 season.

My question is about some of the Managerial Ratings I see out there. People in my league have huge ratings (5118 3241 3099), playing literally hundreds of seasons. At $24.95 a month how can this be affordable? I understand that you can buy 5 teams for $100 and you win credits for a championship or second place, but that does not account for some of these users. In my calculations they would have paid literally thousands of dollars to play that many seasons.

I apologize if this sound like such newbie question, but it just seems bizarre to me.

if you win championships you get free credits to play more teams. some of these guys have been around a long time.

Welcome to the community. Don't let the Manager Ratings intimidate you - for the most part the ratings reflect the number of teams purchased. The game has been around since 2001, and many folks have been here from the start. Their manager ratings have simply accumulated over that time.

For instance, I have now played 251 teams (4677 mgr rating).

(Now for some sleight of hand).

251 teams at $24.95 per team amounts to $6,262.45. My wife would insist that's only half of it, while Bernie would be orgasmic.

But...

57 championships is 114 free teams.
42 more finals (lost) is 42 more teams.
251-114-42=95.
95 teams/5=19 five packs x $100= $1900.00

$1900.00/96 months I've been playing = $19.79 per month over eight years. By contrast, a $3 cup o' Starbucks per day over that span is (3x30x96) or [size=18:42a26ddd64]$8,640.00[/size:42a26ddd64].

:?

Now I've gotta go find the wife...

Thanks J-Pav! Math can solve everything. Except the wife.

J-Pav should have mentioned the occasional "sale" that pops up. Savings there too. Many of the older seasons are 12.50 now, so you can play more for less in those seasons. I'm not going to do the math for my playing (quite honestly, I'm fearful of the results...), But I would guess it's a similar cost structure as what J-Pav figured.

Enjoy!

Kevin
