HAL & Bullpen

I'm a newbie and stumped completely by HAL. My starters are getting battered regularly and are left in although my bullpen is rested and ready. Thru 15 games my closer has 2 appearances (2.1 and 3 innings even though Max 1-2 IP is on), my setup has 1 app (0.1 IP) and my next best reliever has 1 app (1.0 IP).
Mark Buehrle was left in to give up 18 and 17 hits on consecutive starts, then after I turned on Quick Hook for his last start he was still left in to go 6.1 IP allowing 10 runs on 11 hits! His ERA is 9+ after 4 starts (and 0-4 of course).
I removed most pitching preferences except one avoid RH for my lefty specialist, and 1-2 max for the same pitcher plus my closer. I do have roles set up - closer, tied & late, setup, etc. thru to mopup. My mopup guys are getting more work - because the starters are left in to give up a lot of runs - but HAL seems to be trying to get complete games all the time. (I reduced the "don't pull before" inning to 3 and 4 for my starters.)

HELP! I'm getting killed!

Up to this sentence, I had no clue what was going on!! But poor you, you completely misunderstood the purpose of "don't pull before".

It has nothing to do with innings.

It has to do with Strat's fatigue system.

By saying "don't pull before F4", you're basically saying to the computer: force my guys on the mound until they are completely washed out (that is, until they reached state F4, which is pretty low).

To solve your problem, simply remove any instructions in that "don't pull before". This way, Hal will remove your starting pitchers before they are getting too fatigued.
