Why on earth would HAL do this?

First I couldn't tell who was pitching for my opponent in Game 1 and 2 of the Finals until 10:05 pm (too late),
THen in game 1, with the score 2-1 in my favor, the computer brought in Justin Miller, my .57 mill mop-up guy, to pitch the 7th and 8th innings. He promptly gives up 2 runs (blown save) and I lose 3-2.
Meanwhile, my set up and closer guy, the 7 mill Mariano Rivera, sits on the bench. He can't be tired, because there was a rest day between the semi-finals and finals. (unless I am missing something?)
I don't mind losing if it is fair and square (in its essence it is just a dice game based on probabilities), but I do mind losing if it is stupid or worse (as in somehow rigged) :x
Anyone care to comment? Here is the game
